Mr—Farrand said those property <br />owners who indicated their vote today are not required to be present <br />next Monday when the Board will consider this.matter again. <br />PUBLIC HEAPING ON.ASSESSMENT ROLL, VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 3430 <br />This being the date set, hearing was held on the Assessment Roll <br />for Vacation Resolution No. 3430 for the vacation of the 18' east - <br />west alley between Kenmore St, and,Falcon St., north of Washington <br />Street, being the center 18' of the former Colfax Avenue, which was <br />vacated under Resolution No. 2610, excepting the alley intersection, <br />The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of notice in the South <br />Bend Tribune and the Tri-County News which were found to be <br />sufficient. No remonstrators appeared and no written remonstrances <br />were filed. Upon motion made by Mr. Farrand, seconded by Mr. <br />Brunner and carried, the Assessment Roll,showing $0.00 net damages <br />and $0.00 net benefits was approved and said resolution is in all <br />things ratified and confirmed and said proceedings closed. <br />APPROVAL FOR INSTALLATION OF TOILET FACILITIES AT ALARM STATION <br />Chief Oscar Van Wiele was present and advised the Board that he <br />would like to proceed with installation.of toilet facilities at <br />the Alarm Station as soon as possible. Proposed changes in the alarm <br />system are being considered and he would like to have this installa- <br />tion completed first. Estimates have been received on the work and <br />they vary from $4500 to $4900. Since the estimates are below <br />$5,000 and do not require competitive bidding, the Board advised <br />Chief Van Wiele to proceed with this work immediately accepting <br />the contractor who can make the necessary installation at the lowest <br />and best price for the City of South Bend. <br />CHANGE ORDERS IN FIRE DEPARTMENT PUMPERS APPROVED <br />Chief Van Wiele submitted to the Board a recommendation for change <br />orders in the four Fire Department pumpers purchased. <br />Changes requested in the pumper purchased September 13, 1976 are <br />as follows: <br />Seven 2z" Trilock Nozzle Holders @ $21.00 each $147.00 <br />One 10.00 x 20, 14 ply tire 164.00 <br />Ziebart Rustproofing, complete 250.00 <br />Cast Aluminum Dedication Plaque 70.00 <br />For the three pumpers purchased in March, 1976, changes proposed <br />per truck were as follows: <br />One 10.00 x 20, 14 ply tire 164.00 <br />Ziebart Rustproofing, complete 250.00 <br />Cast Aluminum Dedication Plaque 70.00 <br />Two hundred feet of three inch bilateral <br />hose with 2z inch lightweight couplings <br />at $4.98 per foot 996.00 <br />There was a discussion regarding the dedication plaques, Mr. Farrand <br />said the plaques have been traditionally put on fire apparatus in <br />the past. Mr. Brunner said it was his feeling that economy rather <br />than tradition ought to be considered. He said perhaps the Board <br />ought to establish a new tradition in favor of economy. Mr. Farrand <br />said it has been customary to put such a plaque on fire equipment <br />and asked Chief Van Wiele for his comments, Chief Van Wiele said <br />it should be whatever the Board decided. Upon motion made by Mr. <br />Mullen, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the Board approved the <br />change orders, deleting the items for cast aluminum dedication plaques. <br />Total amount of the change order for the truck purchased September 13 <br />is $561.00. Total amount of the change order for the three pumpers <br />purchased in March is $1,410.00 per truck, or $4,230.00. <br />1 <br />
