Z <br />REGULAR MEETING AUGUST 2, 1976 <br />TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES APPROVED <br />Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager of the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, <br />submitted to the Board, the following recommendations: <br />A. Installation of Stop Signs on Bruce at Chapin Street <br />B. Installation of Stop Signs on Bruce at Calvert Street <br />C. Removal of two hour parking zone on the south side of the <br />west half of 100 E. Dayton Street <br />D. Temporary No Parking on both sides of York Road, from <br />Renfrew to Provincial Drive, for the 4-H Fair. <br />Upon motion made by Mr. Farrand, seconded by Mr. Brunner and <br />carried, the requests were approved. <br />MINI -MARATHON APPROVED <br />The Board received a report from Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager of <br />the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, that the request of the South <br />Bend Track Club to hold a Mini -Marathon on River Bend Plaza <br />on Sunday, August 8 from 10:00 a.m, to 12:00 noon had been <br />reviewed. Mr. Wadzinski suggested that the route to be used <br />should be the Supergraphic area from Colfax to Western, Western <br />to St. Joseph, St. Joseph to Colfax and Colfax back to the Super- <br />graphic.area. This will necessitate the closing of 100 East <br />and West Washington and 100 East and West Jefferson. The closing <br />of 100 East and West Wayne Street will be at the discretion of <br />the officers working the intersection of St. Joseph and Wayne <br />Street. Mr. Wadzinski said he has conferred with Captain Sweitzer <br />of the Police Department Traffic Detail and they concur that <br />approval can be recommended. Upon motion made by Mr. Farrand, <br />seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the request was approved <br />subject to the filing of liability insurance. <br />PARKING METER USE DUPING CONSTRUCTION PERIOD APPROVED <br />Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager of the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, <br />reported to the Board.that the Ziolkowski Construction Company <br />will be working to remodel a portion of the Indiana Bell Telephone <br />Company, corner of Main and Wayne. The construction will require <br />the use of three parking meters on the west side of 300 N. Main <br />Street. The company will pay the rate of $5.00 per meter per week <br />during the;time.of occupancy, which will run through mid -December. <br />11r. Wadzinski recommended approval of the request. Upon motion <br />made by Mr. Farrand, seconded by 11r. Brunner and carried, the <br />request was approved and Mr. Wadzinski will be instructed to make <br />arrangements with the Construction Company for the occupancy. <br />MEMORIAL HOSPITAL PARKING RECOMMENDATION APPROVED <br />Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager of the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, <br />reported that Memorial Hospital has requested that the No Parking, <br />Loading Zone be restored to the Main Street side of the hospital, <br />with the entrance to the new doctors' area and the cardiac unit <br />to be designated No Parking for emergency vehicle use. Upon <br />motion made by Mr. Farrand, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, <br />the recommendation was approved. <br />RIVER BEND PLAZA APPLICATIONS APPROVED <br />Ronald Bock, Director of River Bend Plaza, recommended the follow- <br />ing activities favorably to the Board and requested approval: <br />1. August 7, 14, 21 and 28 - Grace Baptist Church to hold <br />Ministry of Music Concerts and "rap" sessions <br />2. August 17 (Raindate August 18) - Liberty Train '76. CETA <br />funded summer youth program. <br />
