REGULAR MEETING MAY 24, 1976 <br />MEMORIAL DAY PARADE APPROVED <br />The Board received a°recommendation from Ralph Wadzinski, Manager <br />of the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, that he had reviewed the <br />request of the St. Joseph County Memorial -Day Society tohold <br />their annual parade beginning at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, May 31, 1976. <br />A proposed route was submitted with the request. Mr. Wadzinski <br />said he had conferred with Captain James Sweitzer of the Police <br />Department Traffic Detail and approval is recommended. Liability <br />insurance is being provided. Upon motion made by Mr. Farrand,, <br />seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, the parade was approved. <br />NOTIFICATION RE: FIRE DEPARTMENT PARTICIPATION IN PARADES <br />The Board received notification from Chief Robert L. Snider that= <br />the Fire Department has been asked to participate in the West <br />Side Memorial Day Parade at 9:30 a.m. and the St. Joseph County <br />Memorial Society Parade at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, May 31, 1976. <br />Chief Snider said they would like to have one red car and one <br />truck participate in each parade. Upon motion made by Mr. <br />Farrand, seconded by Mr. Brunner - and carried, the Board approved <br />the Fire Department participation in the parades. <br />SHRINE CIRCUS REQUESTS APPROVED <br />The Shrine Club had requested permission from the Board to place <br />a soft drink vending unit in front of the Morris Civic Auditorium <br />during the Shrine Circus performances on June 12 and 13. Mr. <br />Mullen reviewed the request and determined that since they have <br />a permit from the Charitable Solicitations Commission and have <br />purchased a $15.00 license from the City Controller for the circus, <br />they will not need to purchase a vending license for the soft <br />drink unit. The Shrine Club had also requested permission to <br />rent the Colfax Parking Garage on Sunday, June 13 to allow for <br />free parking for their advance ticket holders for the circus. <br />They have submitted a $50.00 check in payment for use of the <br />garage. Upon motion made by Mr. Farrand, seconded by Mr. Brunner <br />and carried, the Board approved the use of the Colfax Parking <br />Garage on Sunday, June 13 from 1:30 to 10:30 p.m. by the Shrine <br />Club. <br />STREET LIGHT OUTAGE REPORT FILED <br />The Street Light Outage Report for the period of May 17 through <br />21 was received. The report indicated 25 outages. Upon motion <br />made by Mr. Farrand, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, the <br />report was ordered filed. <br />CENTURY CENTER CHANGE ORDERS APPROVED <br />Patrick McMahon, Manager of the Bureau of Public Construction, <br />submitted to the Board the following change orders for Century <br />Center: <br />Change Order No. 3 in Contract 004, Concrete, Carpentry and <br />Masonry. A savings of $5,000 due to the use of a standard mortar <br />in lieu of colored mortar <br />Change Order No. 4 in Contract 004, Concrete, Carpentry and <br />Masonry and Change Order No. 1 in Contract 012, Roofing & <br />Accessories. The contractor has suggested and the Architect has <br />accepted the use of a Perlite Roof System in lieu of the one <br />on W536.00 <br />ally specified. The modification results in an addition <br />of to Contract 004 and a deduction of $12,201.60 to <br />Contract 012, resulting in a net deduction of $3,665.60. In addition <br />to the initial savings, the superior insulation value assocated <br />with the Perlite system will result in long-term energy savings. <br />Upon motion made by Mr. Farrand, seconded by Mr. Mullen and <br />carried, the Change Orders were approved. <br />
