REGULAR MEETING MAY 24, 1976 MEMORIAL DAY PARADE APPROVED The Board received a°recommendation from Ralph Wadzinski, Manager of the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, that he had reviewed the request of the St. Joseph County Memorial -Day Society tohold their annual parade beginning at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, May 31, 1976. A proposed route was submitted with the request. Mr. Wadzinski said he had conferred with Captain James Sweitzer of the Police Department Traffic Detail and approval is recommended. Liability insurance is being provided. Upon motion made by Mr. Farrand,, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, the parade was approved. NOTIFICATION RE: FIRE DEPARTMENT PARTICIPATION IN PARADES The Board received notification from Chief Robert L. Snider that= the Fire Department has been asked to participate in the West Side Memorial Day Parade at 9:30 a.m. and the St. Joseph County Memorial Society Parade at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, May 31, 1976. Chief Snider said they would like to have one red car and one truck participate in each parade. Upon motion made by Mr. Farrand, seconded by Mr. Brunner - and carried, the Board approved the Fire Department participation in the parades. SHRINE CIRCUS REQUESTS APPROVED The Shrine Club had requested permission from the Board to place a soft drink vending unit in front of the Morris Civic Auditorium during the Shrine Circus performances on June 12 and 13. Mr. Mullen reviewed the request and determined that since they have a permit from the Charitable Solicitations Commission and have purchased a $15.00 license from the City Controller for the circus, they will not need to purchase a vending license for the soft drink unit. The Shrine Club had also requested permission to rent the Colfax Parking Garage on Sunday, June 13 to allow for free parking for their advance ticket holders for the circus. They have submitted a $50.00 check in payment for use of the garage. Upon motion made by Mr. Farrand, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the Board approved the use of the Colfax Parking Garage on Sunday, June 13 from 1:30 to 10:30 p.m. by the Shrine Club. STREET LIGHT OUTAGE REPORT FILED The Street Light Outage Report for the period of May 17 through 21 was received. The report indicated 25 outages. Upon motion made by Mr. Farrand, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, the report was ordered filed. CENTURY CENTER CHANGE ORDERS APPROVED Patrick McMahon, Manager of the Bureau of Public Construction, submitted to the Board the following change orders for Century Center: Change Order No. 3 in Contract 004, Concrete, Carpentry and Masonry. A savings of $5,000 due to the use of a standard mortar in lieu of colored mortar Change Order No. 4 in Contract 004, Concrete, Carpentry and Masonry and Change Order No. 1 in Contract 012, Roofing & Accessories. The contractor has suggested and the Architect has accepted the use of a Perlite Roof System in lieu of the one on W536.00 ally specified. The modification results in an addition of to Contract 004 and a deduction of $12,201.60 to Contract 012, resulting in a net deduction of $3,665.60. In addition to the initial savings, the superior insulation value assocated with the Perlite system will result in long-term energy savings. Upon motion made by Mr. Farrand, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, the Change Orders were approved.
