REGULAR MEETING <br />_- MAY 24, 1976 <br />COPIES OF CIVIC CINEMA PRESENTED TO THE BOARD <br />Gene Evans, Director of the Civic Planning Association, presented <br />copies of the 1976 edition of Civic Cinema, the publication of <br />the Planning Association, to the members of the Board. Board members <br />thanked Mr. Evans for the book which, -they indicated, is most <br />informative. <br />REQUEST TO BLOCK LELAND AVENUE ON JUNE 6 RECEIVED <br />The Board received a request from the Park Avenue Neighborhood <br />Association to block Leland Avenue, from Portage to Lindsey,.on <br />Sunday, June 6, in connection with an ice cream social to be held. <br />Upon motion made by Mr. Farrand, seconded by Mr. Brunner and <br />carried, the Board referred the request to the Bureau of Traffic <br />and Lighting for review and recommendation. <br />CHANGE ORDER NO. 1 APPROVED - AIRPORT INDUSTRIAL PARK, CONTRACT TWO <br />Change Order No. 1 in Contract Two for the Airport Industrial Park <br />was submitted to the Board with the favorable recommenation of <br />Patrick McMahon, Manager of the Bureau of Public Construction. <br />The change order increases the contract by $45,000 for additional <br />railroad track and an electrical power system. The changes were <br />made at the request of the Industrial Foundation to add to the <br />salability of.the properties north of Boland Drive. Mr. Farrand <br />made a motion that the change order be approved. Mr. Brunner <br />seconded the motion and it carried. <br />REQUEST TO ELIMINATE PARKING IN SUPERGRAPHIC AREA APPROVED - MAY 29 <br />Joseph Zakas of the Charismatic Conference and Douglas Simpson, <br />Director of River Bend Plaza, were present. Mr. Simpson advised the <br />Board that, in connection with the Charismatic Conference to be <br />held on Saturday, May 29, Mr. Zakas is requesting that parking be <br />eliminated from the two supergraphic blocks to allow for the set-up <br />and feeding of the conference participants. They would be out of <br />the area by 3:30 p.m. Mr. Farrand asked whether the downtown <br />merchants have been contacted regarding the elimination of parking. <br />Mr. Simpson said he had not talked to anyone from the Downtown <br />Council, but he said the Charismatic Conference will bring 6,000 <br />people into the downtown area on a Saturday afternoon and this <br />should please the merchants. Mr. Zakas said they will have a crew <br />to set up and clear the area. Mr. Mullen asked how many tables <br />would be used. Mr. Zakas said they would need twenty tables for <br />the food for lunch and additional tables for eating. Mr. Mullen <br />asked how the trash removal would be handled. Mr. Simpson said he <br />had contacted Joseph Kuminecz of the Bureau of Solid Waste and is <br />working with them. They will provide a crew and Mr. Zakas said <br />the Charismatic group plans to have 20 people available for clean-up. <br />Trash receptacles will be provided. Mr. Farrand made a motion that <br />the request to eliminate parking on the two supergraphic blocks <br />on Saturday, May 29 be approved, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried. <br />REQUEST FOR REMOVAL OF TREE AT 3310 VERMONT PLACE <br />The Board received a request from Councilman Walter Kopczynski <br />that a dangerous tree be removed from the property at 3310 Vermont <br />Place where a sub -standard structure was recently demolished. <br />Upon motion made by Mr. Farrand, seconded by.
