REGULAR MEETING <br />NOVEMGER 3, 1975 <br />HEARING ON ASSESSMENT ROLL --VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 3417, 1975 <br />This being the date set for holding a hearing on the Assessment <br />Roll for Vacation Resolution No. 3417, 1975, hearing was held <br />for the vacation of the first east -west alley, south of Madison <br />Street between Lots 171 and 172 in the Original Plat of South <br />Bend, running from Michigan Street west 165 feet to the east <br />right-of-way line of the north -south alley. The Clerk tendered <br />proofs of publication of notice in the South Bend Tribune and <br />the Tri-County News which were found to be sufficient. No <br />remonstrators appeared and no written remonstrances having been <br />received, upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Assessment <br />Roll showing no net damages and no net benefits was approved and <br />said Resolution is in ,all things ratified and confirmed and <br />said proceedings closed. <br />REQUEST FOR TRAFFIC CONTROL ON BENTLEY LANE <br />The Board received a letter from Councilman Roger 0. Parent asking <br />that consideration be given to some kind of traffic control on <br />Bentley Lane to slow down motor vehicle traffic. Mr. Parrent <br />suggested a stop sign, caution lights or speed bumps. Upon motion <br />made, seconded and carried, the letter was referred to the Bureau <br />of Traffic and Lighting for review and recommendation.. <br />PARKING METERS AND GREEN CURB APPROVED. 100 W. WASHINGTON <br />The Board received a recommendation from Ralph Wadzinski, Manager <br />of the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, for the installation of seven <br />parking meters on the north side of the east one-half block of <br />100 West Washington. The Board amended the recommendation to include <br />four one -hour parking meters and three green curb spaces in this <br />half block. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved <br />the amended recommendation. <br />REPORT - MEMORIAL HOSPITAL PARKING <br />The Board received a report from Ralph Wadzinski, Manager of the <br />Bureau of Traffic and Lighting regarding Memorial Hospital Parking. <br />Mr. Wadzinski said that representatives from the hospital have asked <br />for assistance in the parking situation during construction. On the <br />north side of 100 W. Navarre the existing 30 minute zone is to be <br />increased by one space. On the south side of 100 W.. Navarre two <br />thirty -minute zones are established in front of the Nurses Residence <br />Hall. No parking zones are to be established in front of the entrances <br />to the Family Practice Center on the north side of the street and to <br />the two doors to the nurses residence on the south side. The No <br />Parking Zone on both sides of the Main Entrance to the hospital is to <br />be established as a Tow-Away.Zone to maintain access to an existing <br />fire hydrant. Three No Parking Commercial Vehicle Loading Zones, with <br />a 15 minute limit and with Tow -Away Signs are to be installed on the <br />west side of Michigan south of the no parking zone. Mr. Wadzinski <br />asked for the Board's approval of these parking installations. Upon <br />motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved the recommendation <br />with the stipulation that the Loading Zone on Michigan Street. -be approved <br />for a thirty -day period and that Mr. Wadzinski report to the Board at <br />the end of that time period as to whether this loading zone,is.working <br />successfully or whether it is causing any traffic problems on Michigan St. <br />TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICE APPROVED <br />The Bureau of Traffic and Lighting recommended the installation of <br />Stop Signs on Carroll at Chippewa and on Luelde at Chippewa. Upon <br />motion made, seconded and carried, the installation was approved. <br />
