REGULAR MEETING NOVEMGER 3, 1975 HEARING ON ASSESSMENT ROLL --VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 3417, 1975 This being the date set for holding a hearing on the Assessment Roll for Vacation Resolution No. 3417, 1975, hearing was held for the vacation of the first east -west alley, south of Madison Street between Lots 171 and 172 in the Original Plat of South Bend, running from Michigan Street west 165 feet to the east right-of-way line of the north -south alley. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri-County News which were found to be sufficient. No remonstrators appeared and no written remonstrances having been received, upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Assessment Roll showing no net damages and no net benefits was approved and said Resolution is in ,all things ratified and confirmed and said proceedings closed. REQUEST FOR TRAFFIC CONTROL ON BENTLEY LANE The Board received a letter from Councilman Roger 0. Parent asking that consideration be given to some kind of traffic control on Bentley Lane to slow down motor vehicle traffic. Mr. Parrent suggested a stop sign, caution lights or speed bumps. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the letter was referred to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting for review and recommendation.. PARKING METERS AND GREEN CURB APPROVED. 100 W. WASHINGTON The Board received a recommendation from Ralph Wadzinski, Manager of the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, for the installation of seven parking meters on the north side of the east one-half block of 100 West Washington. The Board amended the recommendation to include four one -hour parking meters and three green curb spaces in this half block. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved the amended recommendation. REPORT - MEMORIAL HOSPITAL PARKING The Board received a report from Ralph Wadzinski, Manager of the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting regarding Memorial Hospital Parking. Mr. Wadzinski said that representatives from the hospital have asked for assistance in the parking situation during construction. On the north side of 100 W. Navarre the existing 30 minute zone is to be increased by one space. On the south side of 100 W.. Navarre two thirty -minute zones are established in front of the Nurses Residence Hall. No parking zones are to be established in front of the entrances to the Family Practice Center on the north side of the street and to the two doors to the nurses residence on the south side. The No Parking Zone on both sides of the Main Entrance to the hospital is to be established as a Tow-Away.Zone to maintain access to an existing fire hydrant. Three No Parking Commercial Vehicle Loading Zones, with a 15 minute limit and with Tow -Away Signs are to be installed on the west side of Michigan south of the no parking zone. Mr. Wadzinski asked for the Board's approval of these parking installations. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved the recommendation with the stipulation that the Loading Zone on Michigan Street. -be approved for a thirty -day period and that Mr. Wadzinski report to the Board at the end of that time period as to whether this loading zone,is.working successfully or whether it is causing any traffic problems on Michigan St. TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICE APPROVED The Bureau of Traffic and Lighting recommended the installation of Stop Signs on Carroll at Chippewa and on Luelde at Chippewa. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the installation was approved.
