6 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />AUGUST 25, 1975 <br />REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FORBIDS FOR 'SALE 'OF'ABANDONED VEHICLES <br />The Board received a. request from Michael Carrington, Director of <br />Public Safety, to advertise for bids for the sale of approximately <br />75 abandoned vehicles. Specifications for the sale were attached. <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved the request <br />and directed the Clerk to advertise for bids with sealed bids to be <br />received on September 8. <br />RECOMMENDATION ON PETITION TO VACATE PORTIONS OF IOWA AND KENTUCKY STREETS <br />The Board received a recommendation from the Bureau of Design and <br />Administration that the petition of the Bendix Corporation to vacate <br />portions of Iowa and Kentucky Streets, from the south right-of-way line <br />of Prast Boulevard to the north right-of-way line of Westmoor Street, <br />had been reviewed and they have no objection to the proposed vacation, <br />subject to the reservation of an easement for the six inch water main <br />in the affected area. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the <br />Board filed the recommendation and referred the petition to the Area <br />Plan Commission for review and recommendation. <br />AREA PLAN RECOMMENDATION FILED - PETITION TO VACATE ALL STREETS, ALLEYS <br />AND LOTS NOT PREVIOUSLY VACATED IN RIVER BEND ADDITION <br />The Area Plan Commission sent a report to the Board stating that a <br />public hearing was held on the petition of the Department of Redevelop- <br />ment to vacate all streets, alleys and lots not previously vacated in <br />River Bend Addition. The following action was taken at the hearing. <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the petition was amended to <br />include on page of the petition "Also the remaining portion of Lot <br />1-15 of the South Bend Manufacturing Company which lies outside the <br />above described boundary. The Area Plan Commission then made a favorable <br />recommendation to the Board on the petition. Upon motion made, <br />seconded and carried, the Board filed the recommendation, noting the <br />amendment, and referred the petition to the Bureau of Engineering <br />for preparation of the Vacation Resolution. <br />AREA PLAN RECOMMENDATION FILED - PETITION TO VACATE THE NORTH -SOUTH <br />ALLEY BETWEEN WALNUT AND WEBSTER STREET <br />The Board received a recommendation from the Area Plan Commission that <br />a public hearing was held on the petition of William Lagodney, et al, <br />to vacate the north -south alley between Walnut Street and Webster <br />Street, running south from Fisher Street to the first east -west alley, <br />City of South Bend. The Area Plan Commission recommended the petition <br />favorably to the Board of Public Works. Upon motion made, seconded <br />and carried, the recommendation was filed and the petition was referred <br />to the Bureau of Engineering for preparation of the Vacation <br />Resolution. <br />REQUEST FOR MARCH OF DIMES WALKATHON <br />The Board received a request from the March of Dimes to hold their <br />annual Walkathon on April 10, 1975. The request was submitted six <br />months in advance in compliance with the quidelines set by the Board <br />for such events. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the request <br />was filed and referred to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting for <br />preliminary review and recommendation. <br />TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES APPROVED <br />The Bureau of Traffic and Lighting recommended the installation of <br />the following traffic control devices: <br />Revision from Yield Sign to Stop Sign at: <br />Caroline at Bowman, southeast corner <br />Caroline at Donald, southeast corner <br />Greenwood at Woodmont, northwest corner <br />1 <br />I - <br />
