6 REGULAR MEETING AUGUST 25, 1975 REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FORBIDS FOR 'SALE 'OF'ABANDONED VEHICLES The Board received a. request from Michael Carrington, Director of Public Safety, to advertise for bids for the sale of approximately 75 abandoned vehicles. Specifications for the sale were attached. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved the request and directed the Clerk to advertise for bids with sealed bids to be received on September 8. RECOMMENDATION ON PETITION TO VACATE PORTIONS OF IOWA AND KENTUCKY STREETS The Board received a recommendation from the Bureau of Design and Administration that the petition of the Bendix Corporation to vacate portions of Iowa and Kentucky Streets, from the south right-of-way line of Prast Boulevard to the north right-of-way line of Westmoor Street, had been reviewed and they have no objection to the proposed vacation, subject to the reservation of an easement for the six inch water main in the affected area. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board filed the recommendation and referred the petition to the Area Plan Commission for review and recommendation. AREA PLAN RECOMMENDATION FILED - PETITION TO VACATE ALL STREETS, ALLEYS AND LOTS NOT PREVIOUSLY VACATED IN RIVER BEND ADDITION The Area Plan Commission sent a report to the Board stating that a public hearing was held on the petition of the Department of Redevelop- ment to vacate all streets, alleys and lots not previously vacated in River Bend Addition. The following action was taken at the hearing. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the petition was amended to include on page of the petition "Also the remaining portion of Lot 1-15 of the South Bend Manufacturing Company which lies outside the above described boundary. The Area Plan Commission then made a favorable recommendation to the Board on the petition. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board filed the recommendation, noting the amendment, and referred the petition to the Bureau of Engineering for preparation of the Vacation Resolution. AREA PLAN RECOMMENDATION FILED - PETITION TO VACATE THE NORTH -SOUTH ALLEY BETWEEN WALNUT AND WEBSTER STREET The Board received a recommendation from the Area Plan Commission that a public hearing was held on the petition of William Lagodney, et al, to vacate the north -south alley between Walnut Street and Webster Street, running south from Fisher Street to the first east -west alley, City of South Bend. The Area Plan Commission recommended the petition favorably to the Board of Public Works. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the recommendation was filed and the petition was referred to the Bureau of Engineering for preparation of the Vacation Resolution. REQUEST FOR MARCH OF DIMES WALKATHON The Board received a request from the March of Dimes to hold their annual Walkathon on April 10, 1975. The request was submitted six months in advance in compliance with the quidelines set by the Board for such events. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the request was filed and referred to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting for preliminary review and recommendation. TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES APPROVED The Bureau of Traffic and Lighting recommended the installation of the following traffic control devices: Revision from Yield Sign to Stop Sign at: Caroline at Bowman, southeast corner Caroline at Donald, southeast corner Greenwood at Woodmont, northwest corner 1 I -
