!A I <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />AUGUST 4, 1975 <br />REPORT. RE: INQUIRY REGARDING WILLIA14 STREET'PARKING <br />The following report was received: <br />"To: Board of Public Works <br />From: Bureau of Traffic and Lighting <br />The resident of an apartment house at 229 S.William requested <br />a parking space in front of the residence. <br />The City Legal Department was contacted and provided information <br />from Burns Statutes, 'a case in 1943. Briefly, a property owner's <br />right does not include the privilege of storing autos in front <br />of the property. It was also determined that a parking meter <br />in front of a person's property does not interfere with his/her <br />right of ingress and egress. <br />The solution, as directed by the City Code with the exception <br />of the Central Business District, is offstreet parking. (This <br />location is not within the exempted central business core area <br />as depicted in SEc. 21-104. <br />s/ Ralph Wadzinski " <br />Ttl <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the report was ordered filed. <br />LETTER RE: TRAFFIC PROBLEM ON MAIN STREET <br />W <br />The Board received a letter from Charles Rinkus calling attention <br />to traffic problems on S. Main Street from the 2800 block to Chippewa, <br />particularly in the area of Copco. Upon motion made, seconded and <br />carried, the letter was referred to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting <br />for review and recommendation. <br />FILING OF PETITION TO VACATE ALL STREETS, ALLEYS AND LOTS NOT <br />HERETOFORE VACATED IN RIVER BEND ADDITION <br />The Department of Redevelopment, by the Redevelopment Commissioners, <br />files its petition with the Board to vacate all streets, alleys and <br />lots not heretofore vacated in the plat of River Bend Addition. <br />Mr. Farrand noted that the Department of Public Works has reviewed the <br />petition. Upon motion made,seconded and carried, the petition was <br />filed and referred to the Area Plan Commission for their review and <br />recommendation. <br />FILING OF PETITION BY TRUSTEES OF INDIANA UNIVERSITY TO VACATE THREE <br />ALLEYS <br />The Trustees of Indiana University, by their Attorney Philip Carlton <br />Potts, file their petition to vacate the north -south alley from <br />Mishawaka Avenue to Vince Street, running parallel to and located <br />approximately 133.5 feet west of 20th Street in the City of South Bend; <br />the east -west alley running west from 20th Street to and intersection <br />the alley described above, said alley being north of lot 9 of Shank's <br />2nd Addition and approximately 133.5 feet in length, east and west; <br />and the east -west alley running west from 20th Street to and intersecting <br />the alley described first above, said alley being south of Lot 7 of <br />Shank's 2nd Addition and approximately 133.5 feet in length, east and <br />west. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the petition was ordered <br />filed and referred to the Department of Engineering for review and <br />recommendation. <br />ADOPTION OF VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 3417 <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the following resolution <br />was adopted: <br />
