REGULAR MEETING <br />JULY 21, 1975 <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved the <br />recommendation and accepted the bid of Stanley Enterprises, Inc. <br />for the used one ton truck, with lift, at a total bid price of <br />$9,081.00, subject to the appropriation of the funds. <br />MINI -MARATHON APPROVED ON RIVER BEND PLAZA <br />The Board received a report from Ralph Wadzinski, Bureau of <br />Traffic and Lighting, that a request had been received from the <br />South Bend Track Club to hold their third annual Mini -Marathon <br />on River Bend Plaza on Sunday, August 3, 1975 from 10:00 a.m. to <br />1:00 p.m. The route to be used is the same as last year. Mr. <br />Wadzinski recommended that approval be given subject to coordination <br />by the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the Police Department. <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved the <br />request subject to coordination of the event by the Bureau of <br />Traffic and Lighting and the Police Department. <br />REPORT ON APPROVAL OF PARKING FOR POTPOURRI ART FAIR <br />Mr. Farrand noted that the Board has given approval for on -street <br />parking on Lincolnway East, from Miami to Twyckenham, for the <br />Potpourri Art Fair on August 2 and 3. He said last year, when this <br />was allowed, there was a problem with the blocking of private <br />driveways in the area. Mr. Farrand then directed the Clerk to <br />send a letter to the Potpourri indicating that there should be no <br />parking which would obstruct private or commercial driveways in the <br />area and that the police will be instructed that all driveways are <br />to be kept clear. A copy of the letter is to be sent to Chief <br />Walsh. <br />APPROVAL OF TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES <br />The Bureau of Traffic and Lighting recommended that "No Parking" <br />signs be installed on the east side of Olive Street, from <br />Lincolnway West to the south property line of the first residence, <br />approximately 150 feet. Increased traffic volume and the narrow <br />width of Olive Street require the parking ban. Upon motion made, <br />seconded and carried, the installation was approved. <br />LETTER RE: WESTERN AVENUE -WALNUT STREET VIADUCT <br />The Board received a letter from the Western Avenue Business <br />Council asking for additional lighting under the Western Avenue <br />and Walnut Street viaduct and for painting the underside of the <br />viaduct Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the request was <br />referred to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting for review and <br />recommendation. <br />RIVER BEND PLAZA APPLICATIONS APPROVED <br />The Board received an application from the New Creation Players <br />for a display of music, dance and theatre on River Bend Plaza <br />on July 26. The application was favorably recommended by Louis <br />Wilcox. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board <br />approved the application. <br />The following applications for Sidewalk Days on July 25 and 26 <br />were recommended favorably by Mr. Wilcox: <br />Zondervan Family Bookstore, Jennifer's, Ault Camera Shop, Fox <br />Jewelry Storp, Osco Drug Store and Robertson's and Career Shop. <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the applications were <br />approved subject to licensing and the filing of the necessary <br />insurance certificates. <br />1 <br />
