REGULAR MEETING <br />21 <br />JULY '1.8, 19 7 5 <br />RECOMMENDATION TO AMEND FINDINGS RE: VALLEY C'ABLEVISION APPROVED <br />The Board received the following recommendation: <br />TO: Board of Public Works <br />FROM: Kathleen E. Cekanski, Deputy City Attorney <br />The Findings of the Board of Public Works in regard to the Valley <br />Cablevision Petition for Rate Increase were approved by the Board <br />on July 14, 1975. <br />Item 9 (e) should be amended to read "Board. of Commissioners of <br />St. Joseph County" instead of "the St. Joseph.County Council <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved the <br />recommendation and amended Item 9 (e) of the Findings to read <br />"Board of Commissioners of St. Joseph County" instead of "St. <br />Joseph County Council". <br />CONTRACT WITH VARIAN DATA MACHINES APPROVED <br />The Board received a contract with Varian Data Machines for the <br />+ maintenance of the Varian CID system at the Police Department for <br />one year, from July 1, 1975 through June 30, 1976 at a total cost <br />of $354.00 per month, with a recommendation from Michael D. Carrington, <br />J Director of Public Safety, that the contract be approved. Mr. <br />Barcome noted that this was previously paid with Criminal Justice <br />Funds but will now be paid from City funds so it was felt it should <br />come before the Board of Public Works. Upon motion made, seconded <br />and carried, the contract was approved. <br />PETITION FILED REQUESTING CONSTRUCTION OF SEWERS ON REASON STREET <br />The Board received a petition signed by residents of East Reasor <br />Street asking that they be included in the project to construct <br />sanitary sewers on Widener Lane and Fellows Street. Upon motion made, <br />seconded and carried, the petition was referred to the Bureau of <br />Design and Administration for review and recommendation. <br />RECOMMENDATION RECEIVED FROM AREA PLAN C014MISSION RE: PETITION TO <br />VACATE EAST -WEST ALLEY SOUTH OF MADISON STREET. <br />The Board received a report from the Area Plan Commission that a <br />public hearing was held on the petition of the Eagles Lodge to <br />vacate the first east -west alley south of Madison Street, running <br />from Michigan Street west to the first north -south alley, City of <br />South Bend. The Area Plan Commission recommended the petition <br />favorably to the Board. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, <br />with Mr. Barcome casting a "no" vote, the petition was referred to <br />the Department of Public Works for preparation of the Vacation <br />Resolution. <br />APPOINTMENT OF APPRAISERS - CITY OWNED REAL ESTATE <br />The Board received a report that Resolution No. 18 authorizing the <br />sale of city -owned real estate at 239 N. Studebaker Street had <br />been submitted to the Common Council on June 18. Thirty days has <br />now elapsed and the Council has not asked that the parcel be retained. <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board now appoints <br />Reginald Howard and Fred Bohannon as appraisers and directed that <br />the property now be appraised. <br />RECOMMENDATION TO AWARD TRUCK BID APPROVED <br />The Board received a recommendation from Ralph Wadzinski, Bureau of <br />Traffic and Lighting, that the bids for the one ton truck with <br />hydraulic lift had been reviewed and that the bid of Stanley <br />Enterprises, Inc. for a used 1974 one ton truck and a used lift, <br />complete to specifications, be accepted at a bid price of $9,081.00. <br />
