REGULAR.MEETING JULY 8, 1975 <br />RECOMMENDATION FILED - PETITIORtO VACATE AND DEDICATE CERTAIN <br />STREETS, ALLEYS AND LOTS AS SHOWN ON THE PLAT 'OF RIVER BEND ADDITION' <br />The Bureau `of Design and Administration repoated to the Board that <br />the petition of the Department of Redevelopment to vacate certain <br />streets, alleys and lots as shown on the plat of River Bend Addition <br />to the City of South Bend had been reviewed and they have no objection <br />to the vacation and dedication subject to existing utility easements. <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board filed the report <br />and referred the petition to the Area Plan Commission for review and <br />recommendation. <br />REQUEST TO BLOCK ALLEYS ON JULY 26 APPROVED <br />The Board received a request from the William Penn Lodge -to block <br />the alleys adjacent to their building at 1024 W. Indiana Avenue for <br />their annual picnic on Saturday, July 26 beginning at 12:00 noon. <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved the request <br />subject to coordination by the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and <br />the Police Department. <br />REQUEST FOR BLOCK PARTY APPROVED <br />The Board received a request from Mrs. Robert Conley asking that the <br />1300-1400 block of Sunnymede Avenue, from Sunnyside to Twyckenham, <br />be blocked on Saturday, July 19 from 5:00 p.m. to midnight for a <br />block party. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board <br />approved the request subject to coordination by the Bureau of Traffic <br />and Lighting and the filing of liability insurance with the Board. <br />REQUEST FOR BLOCK PARTY APPROVED <br />The Board received a request from Mr. & Mrs. Vincent Papai to block <br />Winston Drive, from Cabot to Hepler, on July 13 for a block party <br />from noon to 8:00 p.m. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the <br />Board approved the request subject to coordination by the Bureau of <br />Traffic and Lighting and the filing of Liability Insurance with the <br />Board. <br />LETTER OF RESIGNATION RECEIVED FROM CLEM F. HAZINSKI <br />The Board received a letter of resignation from Clem F. Hazinski, <br />Manager of the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting. The letter stated <br />that, because of ill health and upon the advice of his physician, <br />Mr. Hazinski was submitting his resignation with regret. He asked <br />that the resignation date by August 1, 1975. Upon motion made-, <br />seconded and carried, the letter was filed and referred to Mayor <br />Jerry J. Miller for his review. Mr. Seitz commended Mr. Hazinski <br />for his seventeen years of service as Traffic Engineer and said he <br />has always been most helpful and cooperative with all departments <br />of the City. <br />APPROVAL OF CONTRACT AND FILING OF BONDS - WIDENER LANE SEWERS <br />The Contract with Marion Hamilton & Son, Inc. for the construction of <br />the Widener Lane Sewers at a total cost of $102,564.75 was submitted <br />to the Board. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the contract <br />was approved. The Performance Bond and Labor and Materials Payment <br />Bond were received and ordered filed. <br />REQUEST FOR TENT REVIVAL <br />The Board received a request from Rev. Willie Coates of the Emmanual <br />Church of Deliverance to hold a tent revival August 3 through 17 at <br />1017 Carroll Street and.to use a city -owned lot at 1015 Carroll <br />Street for parking for the services. Upon motion made, seconded <br />and carried, the requests were referred to Deputy City Attorney <br />Kathleen Cekanski for review and recommendation. <br />
