REGULAR MEETING <br />JUNE 30, 1975 <br />REQUEST FOR BLOCK PARTY RECEIVED 1000 EAST OAKSIDE <br />The Board received a request from Mrs. Linda Madura to block the <br />1000 block of East Oakside,ofrom Dale to Miami, on Saturday, July <br />19 from 7:30 p.m. to 6:OO a.m. The request was discussed and <br />the Board agreed to consider the request if the time were changed <br />from 7:30 p.m. to 12:00 midnight. Upon motion made, seconded and <br />carried, the request was referred to the Bureau of Traffic and <br />Lighting for preliminary review and recommendation. <br />APPLICATIONS FOR FIREWORKS DISPLAYS APPROVED <br />The following Fireworks Displays were submitted to the Board for <br />approval. They have been approved by the State Fire Marshall, the <br />South Bend Fire Department and have filed the necessary certificates <br />of insurance. <br />A. River Bend Plaza. June 30, 1975 at 100 N. Michigan Street. Upon <br />motion made, seconded and carried, the request was approved. <br />B. Scottsdale Mall. July 3, 1975. Upon motion made, seconded and <br />carried, the request was approved. <br />C. French Quarter Club (Park Jefferson Apartments). July 12, 1975. <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the request was approved. <br />REQUEST FOR TAG DAYS - MAURICE MATTHYS LITTLE LEAGUE <br />The Board received a request from the Maurice Matthys Little League <br />to hold Tag Days on July 10, 11 and 12, for door-to-door and sidewalk <br />sales of emblems. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board <br />approved the request subject to the approval of the Charitable <br />Solicitations Commission. <br />PARKING REQUEST - 229 S. William <br />The Board received a request from Ms. Willie M. Thomas who resides <br />at 229 S. Williams St. to review the parking situation in her area. <br />Ms. Thomas said the street in front of her house has parking meters <br />on it and the street at the side is zoned a two hour parking zone. <br />She said if she parks her car in front of or. near her home, she is <br />ticketed. She asked the Board to consider some solution to her <br />problem, and suggested she be issued a sticker so she would not <br />receive parking tickets. Upon motion made, seconded -and carried, <br />the Board referred the matter to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting <br />for review and recommendation. <br />OPEN AIR STANDS APPROVED - SALE OF LEGAL FIREWORKS <br />The Board received the following applications for open air stands <br />for the sale of legal fireworks. The stands are to be located on <br />private property and written permission of the owners of the property <br />was also submitted. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the <br />stands were approved, subject to securing the proper vending licenses <br />from the Controller's Office: Steve Crane, two stands - 2301 E. <br />Mishawaka Avenue and 1346 N. Ironwood. Greg Gaul, one stand at 1110 <br />E. Ireland. <br />REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR CENTURY CENTER APPROVED <br />The Board received �a request from Patrick 11. McMahon, Manager of <br />the Bureau of Pub.lyc-.0and trx 5ti6-nr;, that plans and specifications <br />for Century Center have been completed and that he was asking <br />the Board to advertise for bids, with bids to be received on <br />August 4, 1975. Mr. McMahon noted that this request received the <br />concurrence of the Civic Center Authority on June 27, 1975. Upon <br />motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved the request and <br />directed the Clerk to advertise for bids on July 3 and 11, with <br />bids to be received on August 4, 1975. <br />11 <br />1 <br />
