Upon motion made by
Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, the Board directed that the
Clerk advertise for a public hearing to be held on Tuesday, December 27, 1977
at 9:30 a.m. on the revenue sharing appropriation ordinances filed with
the Council for first reading on January 9, 1978•
TEMPORARY CHANGE IN PARKING METERS AROUND COUNTY -CITY BUILDING APPROVED
Peter H. Mullen, City Controller, recommended that the Board approve a temporary
change in the parking meters adjacent to the County -City Building to provide
for fifteen minute parking December 15 through January 15 to allow turnover in
parking for renewal of City licenses. Meters will be bagged and the fifteen
minute limit will be strictly enforced. Wadzinski, Manager of the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, recommended
that the Board approve the revision of a Yield Sign to a Stop Sign on the southwest
corner of Dubail at Brookfield. The initial installation was made in 1956 and,
since that time, foliage has increased impeding sight distance at the intersection.
Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the recommendation
was approved.
REQUEST TO REMOVE PARKING ON ONE SIDE OF POLAND STREET TABLED
Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager of the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, reported to
the Board that he had reviewed the request of Councilman Walter Kopczynski that
parking be removed from one side of Poland Street, between Walnut and Webster Streets.
A field investigation was made indicating that there is a narrow, twenty-four foot
roadway in this location. Of the fifteen houses on the north side of the street,
five appear to have off-street parking facilities. Of the twelve houses on the
south side, three have off-street parking facilities. There are twenty-seven houses
in the block and only eight have parking facilities off the street. Mr. Wadzinski
noted that this request came to the Board without a petition signed by the residents
who would be affected. He said Walnut Street is a snow route and parking on that
street would be restricted during the winter and Webster Street is also very narrow.
Mr. McMahon made a motion to table action on the request at this time because it
appears there is insufficient off-street parking for the residents and directed
that Councilman Kopczynski be notified that the Board will not take action on the
matter unless a petition signed by residents of the area affected is submitted to
the Board indicating it is their feeling that parking should be removed from one
side of their street. Mr. Mullen seconded the motion and it carried.
EXTENSION OF TEMPORARY OFFICE AT MAIN AND WESTERN APPROVED
The Board received a request from Mary Borr Toyota for an extension of time for
use of a temporary mobile office at Main and Western Avenue.
