REGULAR MEETING <br />JULY 25, 1977 <br />purchasers increased their offerto $750 The Board has now <br />received an offer of $750 from -Mr. & Mrs. Donald Kintner for <br />the lot at 923 E. Bowman. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, <br />seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the Board accepted the <br />offer, subject to the concurrence of the Common Council and <br />directed Deputy City Attorney Terry A. Crone to prepare a <br />resolution to be submitted to the Council. <br />REQUEST TO PURCHASE 616 N. SCOTT FILED <br />The Board received a request from Bernard Campbell for information <br />regarding the purchase of a city -owned lot at 616 N. Scott Street. <br />Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and <br />carried, the request was filed and the request referred to the <br />Department of Engineering, Parks and Redevelopment for review <br />and a determination as to whether the lot should be retained for <br />any purpose. <br />REQUEST FOR BLOCK PARTY RECEIVED - WALL STREET <br />The Board received a request from Pam DeCola to hold a block party <br />on August 12 from 4:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. on Wall Street, from <br />Twyckenham to the island at Chester and Wall. Upon motion made by <br />Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the request was <br />referred to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the Police Department <br />Traffic Detail for review and recommendation. <br />FISHING CONTEST APPROVAL CONFIRMED <br />The Board filed a copy of a letter from Fred Kahn, Chairman of the <br />Century Center Grand Opening Committee, to John Seidl, President of <br />the South Bend Jaycees, confirming that the Civic Center Board of <br />Managers has approved the Fishing Contest approved by the Board <br />conditionally on July 18. The contest.will be held on August 27 and <br />is being sponsored by Century Center, but organized and conducted by <br />the South Bend Jaycees. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded <br />by Mr. Mullen and carried, the letter of clarification regarding <br />the fishing contest was filed. <br />BLOCKING OF ALLEYS APPROVED FOR WILLIAM PENN PICNIC <br />Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager of the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, <br />reported to the Board that he had reviewed the request of the <br />William Penn lodge to block the alleys adjacent to their building <br />at 1024 W. Indiana Avenue on Saturday, July 30, from noon until <br />dark, for their annual picnic. Mr. Wadzinski recommended approval <br />and Captain Sweitzer concurs. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, <br />seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, the Board approved the blocking <br />of the alleys adjacent to the building at 1024 W. Indiana Avenue <br />on Saturday, July 30 from noon until dark. <br />BLOCK PARTY APPROVED, 1300 E. SOUTH STREET <br />Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager of the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, <br />reported to the Board that the request of residents of South Street <br />to hold a block party in the 1300 block on Friday, August 12 has <br />been reviewed and approval is recommended. They are requesting <br />the street be blocked from noon until dark. Upon motion made by <br />Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, the Board approved <br />the block party. <br />
