REGULAR MEETING JULY 25, 1977 purchasers increased their offerto $750 The Board has now received an offer of $750 from -Mr. & Mrs. Donald Kintner for the lot at 923 E. Bowman. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the Board accepted the offer, subject to the concurrence of the Common Council and directed Deputy City Attorney Terry A. Crone to prepare a resolution to be submitted to the Council. REQUEST TO PURCHASE 616 N. SCOTT FILED The Board received a request from Bernard Campbell for information regarding the purchase of a city -owned lot at 616 N. Scott Street. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the request was filed and the request referred to the Department of Engineering, Parks and Redevelopment for review and a determination as to whether the lot should be retained for any purpose. REQUEST FOR BLOCK PARTY RECEIVED - WALL STREET The Board received a request from Pam DeCola to hold a block party on August 12 from 4:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. on Wall Street, from Twyckenham to the island at Chester and Wall. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the request was referred to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the Police Department Traffic Detail for review and recommendation. FISHING CONTEST APPROVAL CONFIRMED The Board filed a copy of a letter from Fred Kahn, Chairman of the Century Center Grand Opening Committee, to John Seidl, President of the South Bend Jaycees, confirming that the Civic Center Board of Managers has approved the Fishing Contest approved by the Board conditionally on July 18. The contest.will be held on August 27 and is being sponsored by Century Center, but organized and conducted by the South Bend Jaycees. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, the letter of clarification regarding the fishing contest was filed. BLOCKING OF ALLEYS APPROVED FOR WILLIAM PENN PICNIC Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager of the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, reported to the Board that he had reviewed the request of the William Penn lodge to block the alleys adjacent to their building at 1024 W. Indiana Avenue on Saturday, July 30, from noon until dark, for their annual picnic. Mr. Wadzinski recommended approval and Captain Sweitzer concurs. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, the Board approved the blocking of the alleys adjacent to the building at 1024 W. Indiana Avenue on Saturday, July 30 from noon until dark. BLOCK PARTY APPROVED, 1300 E. SOUTH STREET Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager of the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, reported to the Board that the request of residents of South Street to hold a block party in the 1300 block on Friday, August 12 has been reviewed and approval is recommended. They are requesting the street be blocked from noon until dark. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, the Board approved the block party.
