REGULAR MEETING JULY 25, 1977 <br />it might be appropriate to continue this matter for one week in <br />order to meet with Memorial Hospital representatives to discuss <br />plans for such screening. Mr. Hammerschmidt reviewe-d the time <br />frame for the remaining procedure in the vacation process and <br />said they had hoped to keep to the original time of completion on <br />August 22. Mr. McMahon stated that if the hospital representatives <br />met with the Board regarding screening with the next day or two, <br />a. special meeting could then be called to confirm the resolution <br />thus causing no delay in the proceedings. Upon motion made by <br />Mr. Mcilahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the public hearing <br />was continued until August 1, 1977 or until a special meeting of <br />the Board might be called at an earlier date, following a meeting <br />with the Board and representatives of Memorial Hospital regarding <br />screening. <br />VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 3444 PUBLIC HEARING VACATION CONFIRMED <br />This being the date set, hearing was held on Vacation Resolution <br />No. 3444 for the vacation of the north -south alley south of Tutt <br />Street to the east -west alley directly south, and including the <br />aforesaid east -west alley from P-lain Street to the adjacent alley. <br />The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of notice in the South <br />Bend Tribune and the Tri-County News which were found to be <br />sufficient. Mr. McMahon noted that this was the public hearing <br />on the vacation and that the Board received a favorable recommendation <br />from the Area Plan Commission following their public hearing. <br />Joseph Ettl, Attorney, and Norman Schafer, President of the Schafer <br />Gear Works, petitioner for the vacation, were present. Mr. Ettl <br />said they would be happy to answer any questions. Mr. Mullen asked <br />the purpose for the vacation. Mr. Ettl said the area would be <br />fenced to provide parking and security for employees of Schafer <br />Gear Works. There were no remonstrators present and no written <br />remonstrances were filed with the Board. It was noted that the <br />Fire Department has requested an access gate be provided if the <br />alleys are vacated and fencing installed. Upon motion made by <br />Mr. McIlahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the Vacation <br />Resolution was confirmed and it was referred to the Division of <br />Engineering for preparation of the Assessment Roll. <br />AREA PLAN RECOMMENDATION FILED - PETITION TO VACATE PORTION OF COLFAX <br />STREET AND A NORTH -SOUTH ALLEY <br />The Area Plan Commission reported to the Board that a public hearing <br />was held on the petition of Melvin Reed, for St. Johns Missionary <br />Baptist Church, to vacate a portion of Colfax Street from the <br />west right-of-way line of Adams Street to the east right-of-way line <br />of the north -south alley west of Adams and also the north -south alley <br />between College Street and Adams Street, from the north right-of-way <br />line of Liston Street north to the south right-of-way line of Orange <br />Street. The Plan Commission recommended the petition favorably to <br />the Board. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner <br />and carried, the recommendation was filed and referred to the <br />Division of Engineering for preparation of the Vacation Resolution. <br />AREA PLAN RECOMMENDATION FILED - PETITION TO VACATE A PORTION OF MAPLEWOOD <br />The Area Plan Commission reported to the Board that a public hearing <br />was held on the petition of Stanz Realty Company to vacate Maplewood <br />Street, beginning from the south right-of-way line of Progress Drive <br />to the south property line of Lot 27, Post Place Addition. The Plan <br />Commission recommended the petition favorably to the Board. Upon <br />motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the <br />recommendation was filed and the petition referred to the Division of <br />Engineering for preparation of the Vacation Resolution. <br />
