REGULAR MEETING JULY 18, 1977 <br />A. Sidewalk sales by the following merchants, July 22 and 23, 1977: <br />Mueller's Jewelers, Robertson's, Penny's, Dainty Maid, Aktive <br />Vacuum, C.E. Lee, Jefferson Book Store Newman's, Sonneborn's, <br />Hall of Cards, Osco's, Lerner's, Rasmussen's and Office Engineer's. <br />Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and <br />carried, the applications were approved, subject to the necessary <br />insurance and licensing. Also requested was permission for the <br />Coachmen Industries Band to perform on the Robertson's Stage <br />from 11:00 to 1:00 on July 22, 1977. Upon motion made, seconded <br />and carried, this request was approved. <br />B. Solar Space Heating Company to hold a demonstration of solar <br />cooking and heating units on River Bend.Plaza July 22 and 23. <br />Mr. Jim Regelan of the Solar Space Heating Company will demonstrate <br />the use of solar ovens and solar heating equipment and sandwiches <br />will be prepared and sold to the public. Mr. McMahon made a motion <br />to approve, subject to the necessary insurance and licensing. Mr., <br />Brunner seconded the motion and it carried. <br />C. Gregory Rosander to open a fruit stand on the apron.area of the <br />100 block South Michigan along the east curb for one month. Upon <br />motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, <br />the application was approved, subject to the necessary insurance <br />and licensing. <br />D. Jerry Wroblewski, Midwest Karate School, to hold a karate demonstra- <br />tion on Robertson's Stage July 19, 1977 from 11:30 to 1:00. Upon <br />motion made by Mr. McMahon,.seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, <br />the application was approved. <br />E. H.J. Barnum Theatrical Troupe to have a children's play on <br />Robertson's Stage on July 21, 1977 at 12:15 and 12:45. Upon <br />motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, <br />the application was approved. <br />F. South Bend Track Club to hold their Paul Boehm Mini -Marathon <br />track meet on River Bend Plaza on Sunday, August.7 at 10:00 a.m. <br />The proposed route is: 100 block N. Michigan down Plaza to <br />Western, Western Avenue to St. Joseph Street, St. Joseph Street <br />to Colfax, Colfax to Plaza. Mr. McMahon made a motion to approve, <br />subject to concurrence of the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and <br />the South Bend Police Department Traffic Detail. Mr. Brunner <br />seconded the motion and it carried. <br />REQUEST FROM JAYCEE'S TO HOLD CENTURY CENTER FISHING CONTEST <br />The Board received a request from the South Bend Jaycees for the <br />use of Island Park to sponsor a fishing contest for children on <br />Saturday, August 27, 1977. They plan to stock the pool north of, <br />the raceway. Each child entered must be accompanied by an adult. <br />Fishing will be permitted from the bridge leading to the park and <br />along the wall on the east side of the pool. Standing on the wall, <br />or sitting with feet hanging over the edge will be prohibited. Upon <br />motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, the <br />request was approved, subject to the filing of the necessary insurance. <br />REQUEST TO CLOSE ALLEYS ADJACENT TO 1024 W. INDIANA FOR WILLIAM PENN PICNIC <br />A request was received from the William Penn Fraternal Association to <br />block the alleys surrounding the William Penn Lodge at 1024 W. Indiana <br />Avenue for their annual picnic on Saturday, July 30, 1977 commencing <br />at 12:00 noon. Mr. McMahon moved that the request be approved, <br />subject to concurrence of the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the <br />Police Department Traffic Detail. Mr. Brunner seconded the motion <br />and it carried. <br />IN -KIND CONTRUBUTION VOUCHERS FROM A.C.T.I.O.N., INC. APPROVED <br />A.C.T.I.O.N., Inc. submitted to the Board In -Kind Contribution Vouchers <br />for the rental of old Fire Station #7 at 803 N. Notre Dame Avenue for <br />April, May and June in the amount of $843.16 per month and for the <br />1 <br />
