<br />the appropriation ordinance has -now been submitted to the State
<br />Board of Tax Commissioners for their approval. Chief Borkowski
<br />recommended acceptance of the bid. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon,
<br />seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the low and only bid of Meade
<br />Electric Company of $8,763.00 for police radio equipment was accepted,
<br />subject to final approval of the funding.
<br />BID ADVERTISING APPROVED - FIRE DEPARTMENT UNIFORMS AND ACCESSORIES
<br />Chief Oscar Van Wiele, Fire Department, submitted to the Board
<br />detailed specifications for uniforms and uniform accessories for
<br />initial issue for new firemen. The Chief indicated that the amount
<br />will range from $3,000 to $6,000 and this is a budgeted item in the
<br />Fire Department budget. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded
<br />by Mr. Brunner and carried, the Board approved the request to advertise
<br />for bids, and sealed bids will be received on Monday, July 18, 1977.
<br />TITLE SHEET AND BID ADVERTISING APPROVED - WESTERN -WALNUT UNDERPASS
<br />LIGHTING
<br />The title sheet approving the plans for the lighting of the Western -
<br />Walnut Underpass was submitted to the Board by the Bureau of Traffic
<br />and Lighting, along with a request to advertise for bids for the
<br />project. Mr. McMahon noted that Community Development funds are being
<br />sought for the lighting. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded
<br />by Mr. Brunner and carried, the Board approved the title sheet
<br />and authorized advertising for bids for the project.
<br />PROJECT COMPLETION AFFIDAVIT APPROVED BENDIX DRIVE RECONSTRUCTION
<br />R & S 86
<br />The Project Completion Affidavit for R & S 86, the Bendix Drive
<br />Reconstruction, was submitted to the Board, recommended for approval
<br />by Patrick M. McMahon, Director of Public Works, and John Leszczynski,
<br />Manager of the Bureau of Public Construction. The project included
<br />the reconstruction of Bendix Drive, from Lathrop Street to Cleveland
<br />Road, to include storm sewers and.concrete street and the total cost
<br />was $527,732.41. The Maintenance Agreement is to end three years from
<br />the date of acceptance of the Airport Industrial Park, Phase IV.
<br />Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried,
<br />the Project Completion Affidavit was approved and Waivers of Lien
<br />were filed with the Board.
<br />R & S 86 and R & S 87 BREAKDOWN FILED
<br />John Leszczynski, Manager of the Bureau of Public Construction,
<br />advised the Board that, in accordance with a requirement of the
<br />State Board of Accounts, the Airport Industrial Park, Phase IV
<br />project has been broken down into two parts - R & S 86, the Bendix
<br />Drive Reconstruction and R & S 87, the Cleveland Road reconstruction
<br />Mr. Leszczynski submitted a breakdown of all change orders in both
<br />projects. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen
<br />and carried, the report was ordered filed.
<br />FINAL CHANGE ORDER APPROVED - AIRPORT INDUSTRIAL PARK, PHASE IV
<br />A final change order in the contract with Ritschard Brothers for the
<br />Airport Industrial Park, Phase IV, was submitted to the Board. The
<br />Change Order reflected a decrease of $3,996.88 and was caused by the
<br />deletion of some fencing from the project. Upon motion made by
<br />Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the change order
<br />was approved.
<br />TAXI LICENSE APPLICATION DENIED - JOHN MORSE
<br />Peter H. Mullen, City Controller, advised the Board that he received
<br />a recommendation from the Police Department that the taxi license
<br />application of John Morse be denied because the applicant was not
<br />truthful on his application. Mr. Morse indicated he had not been arrested
<br />and records indicate he has been arrested eight times. Mr. Mullen
<br />advised the Board that he concurred with the Police Department in
<br />their recommendation. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by
<br />Mr. Brunner and carried, the Board denied the taxi license application.
