I234 <br />REGULAR MEETING JUNE 20, 1977 <br />D. Frank Perri - Fireworks Stand on River Bend Plaza, June 20 <br />through July 4. A Certificate of Insurance was attached to <br />the application. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by <br />Mr. Mullen and carried, the application was approved. <br />E. South Bend Recreation Department- Petting Zoo on June 28, <br />July 12, July 26 and August 9.._Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, <br />seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, the application was approved. <br />FIRST METHODIST CHURCH REQUEST DENIED <br />The Board received a memorandum from Mary Kay Huszar, Director of <br />River Bend Plaza, advising them that the First Methodist Church <br />has requested permission to hold their regular church services on <br />River Bend Plaza on Sunday, July 3 at 10:00 a.m. just prior to the <br />opening of the Ethnic Festival. There was.a discussion regarding <br />the number of religious groups which might request permission to do <br />the same thing at this time and also the large number of individuals <br />who will be in the area making preparations for the opening of the <br />festival. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner <br />and carried, the Board denied the request. <br />ETHNIC FESTIVAL REQUESTS APPROVED <br />The Board received the following requests from Mary Kay Huszar, <br />Director of River Bend Plaza, in conjunction with the Ethnic Festival: <br />A. Request to use the lot next to the corner of Washington and <br />Michigan for parking of the Showmobile for entertainment during <br />the Festival. Mr. Mullen noted that this lot is owned by the <br />Redevelopment Department. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, <br />seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the Board approved the use <br />of the lot, subject to approval of the Redevelopment Department. <br />B. Request for a special rate in both parking garages of 750, per <br />car on the evening of July 4, for the Fireworks display. Upon <br />motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, <br />the Board approved the request and directed that both parking <br />garages close from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m, on Monday, July 4 and reopen <br />at 6:00 p.m. with a flat rate charge of 75o, per car to be made. <br />Mr. Brunner requested that this matter be cleared with Ralph <br />Muszynski to see if insurance coverage is sufficient. <br />C. Request to close the Wyman's block to parking on June 30 to <br />allow for electrical work to be done prior to the Ethnic <br />Festival. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. <br />Mullen and carried, the request was approved. <br />SIGNING OF TITLE SHEET -BID ADVERTISING APPROVED, MAPLE LANE SEWER <br />The title sheet approving the plans for Phase I of the Maple Lane <br />Storm Sewer, Project L R & S 68, was submitted to the Board. Upon <br />motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, <br />the Board approved the title sheet and authorized advertising for <br />bids for construction. <br />REPORT FILED - WORK AT MEADE AND MONROE STREETS <br />The Board received a report from Morgan Peck, Bureau of Sanitation, <br />outlining manpower and materials costs for tile replacement work <br />west of Meade and Monroe Streets. The report indicated costs of <br />$1,230.45 for material and $1,590.08.for manpower. Upon motion made <br />by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the report <br />was filed. <br />
