k�f <br />REGULAR MEETING JUNE 20, 1977 <br />PARKING REMOVAL ON NORTHWEST STREETS APPROVED <br />Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager of the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, <br />reported to the Board that he reviewed the request and petitions <br />submitted by Councilman Joseph Serge for the removal of parking <br />on four northwest streets. Mr. Wadzinski noted that this parking <br />removal would have no adverse effects on traffic flow or safety <br />and he recommended the following: <br />Removal.of parking on the west side of Olive Street, from Elwood <br />to Lathrop and, at the intersection of Olive and Elwood, that <br />parking also be removed on the east side of Olive, from Elwood south <br />for a distance of 150'. It was also recommended that parking <br />be removed from the East side of Olive Street, from Elwood north <br />for a distance of 100'. This would allow for maneuvering at the <br />intersection of Elwood and Olive, which is a four way stop. <br />On O'Brien Street, from Elwood to Hamilton, on Johnson Street, from <br />Lincolnway to Lathrop, and on Wilber, from Elwood to Marquette, it <br />is recommended that parking be removed from the east side of the <br />streets. <br />Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried., <br />the Board approved the recommendations. <br />PARKING REMOVAL ON CORBY BOULEVARD APPROVED <br />Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager of the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, <br />reported to the Board that he had reviewed the request of Ernest <br />Ross and Councilman Roger Parent to remove parking from one side <br />of Corby Blvd., from Hill Street to Twyckenham. A field investigation <br />was made and the Bureau sees no adverse effect on traffic flow or <br />safety if such parking removal is approved. Mr. Wadzinski recommended <br />that parking be removed from the south side of Corby Blvd., from <br />Niles Avenue to Twyckenham. This would allow for two traffic lanes <br />and one parking lane on the street. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, <br />seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, the removal was approved. . <br />FIREWORKS STANDS APPROVED <br />The Board received an application.from Steve Crane to operate an <br />open air stand at 1202 N. Bendix Drive and one at 1346 N. Ironwood <br />for the sale of legal fireworks. The properties are commercially <br />zoned and Mr. Crane submitted the written permission of the private <br />property owners for operation of the stands. Upon motion made by Mr. <br />McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, the Board approved the <br />applications, subject to securing of the necessary vending licenses <br />and the requirements of the South Bend Fire Department and the State <br />Fire Marshal. <br />RIVER BEND PLAZA APPLICATIONS APPROVED . <br />Mary Kay Huszar, Director of River Bend Plaza, submitted to the Board <br />the following applications for River Bend Plaza, with her favorable <br />recommendation: <br />A. Bettye J. Lee - Booth for Oil Paintings - Ethnic Festival. <br />Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and <br />carried, the application was approved, subject to the filing <br />of the necessary Certificate of Insurance. <br />B. James Puzzello, Italian Food Booth, Ethnic Festival. Upon <br />motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, <br />the application was approved, subject to the filing of the <br />necessary Certificate of Insurance. <br />C. Head Start - Display Booths on June 21 and during the Ethnic <br />Festival. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. <br />Brunner and carried, the applications were approved. <br />
