Ad 0 <br />REGULAR MEETING MAY 31, 1977 <br />Six pick-up trucks to Gates Chevrolet- Net low bid, $24,472.00 <br />Four single -axle dump trucks - Shamrock Ford - Net low bid, $64,075.00 <br />Three tandem axle dump trucks - Shamrock Ford - Net low bid, $79,922.00 <br />One Flusher - International Harvester - Net low bid - $29,697.26 <br />One Tandem Roller - Indiana Equipment Co. - Piet low bid, $17,051.00 <br />Mr. McMahon noted that the recommendation to award the Tractor with loader would <br />be made at a later date. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. <br />Mullen and carried, the Board awarded the bids listed above, subject to approval <br />of the funding. <br />APPROVAL TO SCRAP VEHICLES AND AUTHORIZE DISPOSITION <br />James Meehan, Manager of the Bureau of Vehicle Maintenance, requested that <br />the Board approve a request to scrap City Vehicles No. 550 and 554, both with <br />bad engines, and authorize their disposition. Mr. McMahon made a motion that <br />the vehicles be scrapped and disposition authorized. Mr. Brunner seconded the <br />motion and it carried. <br />FILING OF ACQUISITIONS AND COLLECTIONS POLICY FOR DISCOVERY HALL <br />Richard Welch, Director of Discovery Hall Museum, submitted to the Board the <br />Acquisitions and Collections Policy as adopted by the Mayor's Advisory <br />Committee on May 20, 1977. Mr. Welch was present and advised the Board that <br />the policy provides guidelines for the Museum for acquiring and using <br />historical objects. The museum will collect objects that relate to the industrial <br />history of South Bend. Mr. Mullen noted that the Board of Public Works will <br />be the collecting agency and all acquisitions will be accepted by the Board. <br />Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the <br />policy was filed. <br />STATEMENT ON STUDEBAKER DRIVER'S CLUB RESTORATION FUND FILED <br />Richard Welch, Director of Discovery Hall Museum, submitted to the Board a <br />statement regarding the Studebaker Driver's Club Restoration Fund. The Club has <br />already begun raising funds and has a goal of $40,000 for the use of Discovery <br />Hall in restoring of Studebaker and related vehicles. It has been determined <br />that the fund will not be used for non -Studebaker vehicles. Mr. Mullen pointed <br />out that the fund will be used only for restoration of vehicles to be used in <br />Discovery Hall exhibits. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen <br />and carried, the statement was ordered filed. <br />ADOPTION OF VACATION RESOLUTION NO..3442 <br />Upon motion made by Mr. McPtahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the <br />following resolution was adopted: <br />VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 3442, 1977 <br />RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, That <br />it is desirable to vacate the following: <br />Kaley Street from the south right-of-way line of Kenwood Avenue <br />to the north right-of-way line of Linden Avenue, a distance of 270 feet <br />Also, the east -west alley between Kenwood Avenue and Linden Avenue, <br />running east from the east right-of-way line of Kaley Street to the <br />west right-of-way line of the north -south alley between Kaley Street <br />and Meade Street, a distance of 130.feet, all in Kaley's 1st <br />Subdivision. <br />1 <br />Lj <br />
