REGULAR MEETING <br />AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY SOLICITATION REQUEST TABLED <br />MAY 16, 1977 <br />The Board received a request from the American Cancer Society to <br />conduct a fund solicitation on Saturday, Play 21 from 10:00 a.r'i. to <br />2:00 p.m. The Society had requested approval be given for an <br />intersection collection and had submitted the intersection of Angela <br />and Michigan, Ireland and U. S. 31 or Ironwood and Mishawaka Avenue <br />for consideration. Mr. McMahon noted that the request is for this <br />coming Saturday and the Board has not had an opportunity to review <br />the request. He made a motion that the clatter be tabled for further <br />study, with a special meeting to be called later in the week to act <br />on the request. Mr. Brunner seconded the motion and it carried. <br />REQUEST FOR WALKATHON ON OCTOBER 16 RECEIVED <br />The St. Marys -Notre Dame World Hunger Coalition requested permission <br />to hold a Walkathon on Sunday, October 16 on the approved bike route. <br />The request was submitted in accordance with guidelines of the Board <br />requiring advance notice of any such requests. Upon motion made by Mr. <br />McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the date was tentatively <br />reserved for the group and the request was referred to the Bureau of <br />Traffic and Lighting for review and recommendation. <br />REPORT RECEIVED RE: PARKING ON..ROBINSON ST. AT ALLEY INTERSECTION <br />Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager of the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, <br />reported to the Board that a field investigation had been made in <br />response to Joseph Kasa's complaint that cars parking on Robinson <br />Street at the exit of the east -west alley between Ewing and Fox <br />make turns out of the alley very difficult. Mr. Wadzinski said he <br />has ordered that the curb be painted yellow for 10 feet on either <br />side of the alley intersection. Upon motion made.by Mr. McMahon, <br />seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, the Board filed the report. <br />SPECIAL OLYMPICS TENNIS TOURNAMENT BLOCK PARTY APPROVED <br />Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager of the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, <br />reported to the Board that he had reviewed the request of the Special <br />Olympic Tennis Tournament to hold a Block Party on Sunnyside Avenue, <br />between E. Wayne South and E. Wayne North, on Saturday, ..June 4 from <br />5:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m, and he recommended approval. Upon motion made <br />by Mr. Mcklahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the Board <br />approved the Block Party. <br />CHET WAGGONER LITTLE LEAGUE PARADE REQUEST APPROVED <br />Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager of the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, <br />reported to the Board that he had reviewed the request of the Chet <br />Waggoner Little League to hold an Opening Day parade on Play 21. <br />The Police Department has agreed to provide an escort and Mr. <br />Wadzinski recommended approval, noting that the Fire Department and <br />Civil Defense Department should be notifed that Navarre Street will <br />be used, in the event of ambulance traffic coming to Memorial <br />Hospital from the west during the time of the parade. Upon motion <br />made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, the Board <br />approved the parade and directied that departments be noted of the <br />information noted in Mr. Wadzinski's recommendation. <br />MEMORIAL DAY PARADE APPROVED <br />Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager of the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, <br />reported to the Board that he had reviewed the request of the St. <br />Joseph County Memorial Day Society to hold their annual Memorial Day <br />Parade on Monday, Play 30, 1977 at 2:00 p.m. in the downtown area. <br />Arrangements have been coordinated with Captain Sweitzer of the Police <br />0 <br />1 <br />
