1 <br />REGULAR MEETING MAY 9, 1977 <br />CERTIFICATE OF INSURANCE FROMSOLLITT CONSTRUCTION CO. FILED <br />A Certificate of Insurance from Sollitt Construction Company <br />was submitted to the Board. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, <br />seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the certificate was referred <br />to Deputy City Attorney Georgia Luks for review and recommendation. <br />BOND APPROVED - ABC PLUMBING AND HEATING OF MISHAWAKA <br />Ray S. Andrysiak, Bureau of Engineer-ing,advised the Board that the <br />bond of P. R. Guzman, d/b/a ABC Plumbing and Heating of Mishawaka <br />had been properly executed and could be approved by the Board. <br />Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, <br />the bond was approved. <br />STATEMENT OF POLICY REGARDING RECEIPT OF BIDS <br />Mr. McMahon said.the,Board would like to clarify its policy on <br />receipt of sealed bids. All bid advertisements stipulate that <br />sealed bids must be received,by the Board of Public Works before <br />9:30 a.m. on the date of bid opening. In the past, the policy of <br />the Board has been to accept any bids that had been delivered to <br />the County -City Building by 9:30 a.m. and were in the County or <br />City mail room and delivered to the Board after 9:30 a.m. Mr. <br />McMahon made a motion that effective May 9, 1977, the Board will <br />not accept any.bids that are not received in the office of the Board <br />of Public Works prior to 9:30 a.m. on the date of bid opening. <br />Mr..Mullen seconded the motion and it carried. Mr. McMahon stated <br />that notification will be included in all subsequent bid requests <br />that it is the responsibility of the bidder to see that his bid is <br />received in the Board office prior to the deadline stipulated inthe <br />bid advertisement. This policy is consistent with other Boards and <br />agencies in the State of Indiana. <br />STREET LIGHT OUTAGE REPORT FILED <br />The Street Light Outage Report for the period of May 2 through 6 <br />was received. The report indicated 30 outages. Upon motion made <br />by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, the report was <br />ordered filed. <br />REQUEST FOR PARADE FOR SPECIAL OLYMPICS PROGRAM FILED <br />The Board received a request from William H. Locke on behalf of <br />the Indiana Special Olympics to hold a parade on Sat4Arday, June 4 <br />beginning at Leeper Park at 4:00 p.m. A route was submitted with <br />the request. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. <br />Mullen and carried, the request was filed and referred to the <br />Bureau of Traffic and Lighting for review and coordination with the <br />Police Department Traffic Detail, with a recommendation to be made <br />to the Board. <br />REPORT OF STREET DEPARTMENT CLEAN-UP CREW FOR APRIL FILED <br />The Report of the Street Department Clean -Up Crew for April was <br />submitted to the Board. The report indicated a total of forty-nine <br />lots cleaned, with eighty-three loads of debris hauled to the <br />landfill. In addition, the crew worked on catch basins and helped <br />move the CETA office. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded <br />by Mr. Brunner and carried, the report was ordered filed. <br />
