His home was damaged by fire and he would like to use
the trailer to house his family while repairs are being made. John
DeLee, Building Commissioner, was present and advised the Board that
this would not be permitted by the zoning ordinance unless the
Fergusons applied for a variance from the Board of Zoning Appeals.
That body does not meet until the fourth Thursday of this month and
would delay the start of repairs. The family is presently being
housed in a motel and with relatives. Mr. DeLee noted that the Board
has granted such permission in the past and he advised the Fergusons
to make their request. Ile said he feels this is a legitimate request
to aid in the repairing of a home and said he would work with the
Fergusons to see that repairs are being made. He suggested that the
Board specify some timetable for completion of the work. Mr. Brunner
asked Mr. Ferguson how long the repairs alight take. Mr. Ferguson
said an estiraate he received was for completion in six to eight weeks.
Mr. Brunner asked if the Fergusons have received an insurance settlement
for repairs. Mr. Ferguson said he had a meeting today with his
insurance agent and has been told he will receive the settlement.
Mr. Brunner made a motion that the Board allow a mobile home to be placed
on the lot at 1613 Sibley Avenue, for a period not to exceed three
months, while the house at this address is being repaired for habitation.
Mr. Brunner stated that any extension of time would have to be approved
by the Board and would have to be for a very good reason and he
asked that Mr. DeLee monitor the property while repairs are being made.
Mr. Mullen seconded the motion and it carried.
