PATRICK' S DAY CELEBRATIOPJ APPROVED <br />The Board received a request from River Bend Plaza for a St. <br />Patrick's Dav Celebration to be held on Thursday, March 17. <br />The tentative program for the ceremony to be held from 12:00 to <br />1:00 p.m. was submitted. It was noted that if the weather is <br />not favorable, the Commissioners have approved use of the lobby <br />of the County -City Building for the event. Upon motion made by <br />Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, the program was <br />approved <br />CONTRACT FOR FOURTH OF JULY FIREWORKS APPROVED <br />A contract between the City of South Bend and Princess Fireworks <br />Company for the fireworks display at the close of the Ethnic <br />Festival on July 4 was submitted, to the Board. The contract is in the <br />amount of $7,500 and it was noted that the money has been appropriated <br />by the Council. Deputy City Attorney Georgia Luks reported that she <br />had reviewed the contract. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded <br />byjfr,. Brunner and carried, the contract was approved, subject to <br />the permit fror.:1 the State Fire Marshall, -approval of the local Fire <br />Department and a Certificate of Insurance being filed with the Board. <br />CLAIMS APPROVED <br />Walter F. Lantz, Chief Deputy City Controller, and Michael L. Vance, <br />City Auditor, submitted to the Board claim docket numbers <br />2344 through 3430 for approval. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon,! <br />seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, the Board approved the claims <br />and directed that checks f= payment be issued. <br />RENTAL Or COLFAX GARAGE ON MARCH 1 APPROVED <br />The Board received a request from the Moonraker Restaurant to rent <br />the Colfax Parking Garage on Tuesday, March 1 from 6:00 p.ra, to <br />closing in connection with opening ceremonies at the restaurant. <br />The fee charged for the rental will be $50. 00. Upon motion , lade <br />by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, the rental of the <br />garage was approved. <br />TAXI LICE14SE DENIED - PRENTIS LEE LEWIS <br />The Board received a recor.miendation from City Controller Peter H. <br />Mullen that, in concurrence with the Police Department, the license <br />application of Prentis Lee Lewis for a taxi license be denied. <br />Mr. Mullen said the recomrlendation was based on the applicant's <br />previous arrests and convictions. Deputy City Attorney Georgia Luks <br />also reviewed the application and concurred. yUpon motion made by <br />Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, with Mr. Mullen <br />abstaining, the taxi license was denied. <br />STREET LIGHT OUTAGE REPORT FILED <br />The Street Light Outage report for the period of February 21 through <br />25 was received. The report indicated 26 outages. Mr. Kovas of the <br />South Bend Tribune also reported the lights in the 400 and 500 blocks <br />of Lafayette out and the lights in the 300 block W. Madison out. <br />Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, <br />the report was ordered filed and Mr. Kovas' additions directed to be <br />turned in to the Police Department. <br />
