REGULAR 1 EETING FEBRUARIY 28, 1977 <br />REQUEST TO RESTRICT PARKING OF1 CDRBY BLVD. i0 ONE SIDE FILED <br />The Board received a request fror.:i Ernest°Ross, 1148 Corby Blvd., <br />that parking be restricted to one side only on Corby Blvd., from <br />Twyckenhari to Hill Street. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, <br />seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, the request was filed and referred <br />to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting for a field investigation and <br />report. Per. Brunner asked that the intersection of,Corby and Notre' <br />Dame be studied for possible installation of four-way stop signs. <br />Mr. Wadzinski will be asked to loot: into this matter. <br />REQUEST FILED - EITENS ION OF KEIRIORE S T . 114 INDUSTRIAL PARK <br />The Board received a letter from Hugh Silberman, President of <br />Automatic Molded Plastics, Inc. requesting that the extension of <br />Kenmore Street to the airport property, as called for in the original <br />plans for the Airport Industrial Park, be completed to permit the <br />firm to put in a second driveway. Mr. Silberman indicated that this <br />extension was not completed, at the City's request and with Automatic <br />Molded Plastic's consent, with the stipulation that it would be <br />completed when needed and requested. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, <br />seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the letter was ordered filed <br />and referred to the Division of Engineering for review to confirm <br />the status of this requested extension. <br />SCRAP DEALER'S LICENSE APPROVED - BUSH AUTO SALVAGE <br />Bush's Auto Salvage, 58505 Linden Road, submitted an application for <br />a Scrap Dealer's license. The company operates in an area annexed <br />to the City in 1976 and they are now required to purchase a city <br />license. The Fire Department has approved the license application. <br />Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, <br />with Mr. Mullen abstaining, the Board approved the application and <br />directed the Deputy City Controller's Office to issue the license. <br />FILING OF FOPS? LETTER RE: SNOW REMOVAL <br />Mr. McMahon noted that the Board received a number of complaints this <br />winter regarding property owners' failure to clean snow from their <br />sidewalks, particularly in commercial locations and at apartment <br />complexes. A form letter has been drafted to be used in the future <br />when such complaints are received. Mr. Brunner noted that it is <br />going to be difficult to get compliance but said the City has a <br />responsibility to enforce the ordinance. A �200 fine may be assessed. <br />Mr. Brunner said the City has limited resources but the public should <br />be aware that the ordinance exists and will be enforced. Upon <br />motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, <br />the following form letter was approved: <br />"The Board of Public Works has received complaints that snow <br />has -not been removed from the sidewalk in front of your <br />property located at <br />The Municipal Code, Section 18-8 and 13-2 stipulates that <br />it is the responsibility of the owner to remove snow and ice <br />to the full paved width of the sidewalk within twenty-four hours. <br />The Board -is requesting your cooperation in removing the <br />snow and ice from the sidewalk for the safety of pedestrians <br />and in the best interests of the citizens of South Bend. <br />Failure to comply will result in appropriate legal action <br />being initiated. <br />1 <br />
