10
REGULAR IIEETI14G NOVEMBER 1, 1976
Mrs. Wesszo to advise property owners she has contacted who are
interested in this matter of the date of -'the hearing and said a
report of the date of the continuation would be carried in the
newspaper. Mr. Farrand also added as a part of his.motion that
the petition and letter from the Health Department be referred
to the Legal Department for their review of the procedure to be
followed in the event the Board is ordered to put the sewer in.
Mr. Mullen seconded the motion and it carried.
APPROVAL OF CITY CLAIMS
The Board received City Claims, Docket Numbers 15802 through
16155 and the recommendation of Walter Lantz, Deputy City
Attorney, and Michael Vance, City Auditor, that the claims be
approved and checks issued. Upon motion made by Mr. Farrand,
seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, the Board approved the
claims and directed that checks for payment be issued.
APPROVAL OF SEWER CONSTRUCTION IN RIMER GLEN OFFICE PARK
The Board received a letter from Cole & Associates, Inc. advising
them that, in designing the site work for Bloch. Six for River Glen
Office Park, they have discovered that the stub of a storm sewer
was constructed 3.0 feet above the invert elevation of the 12"
diameter stub at the manhole. This is too high to permit connection
to the site storm sewer system. They are requesting permission to
construct this sewer in the public right-of-way on Columbia Street
by either tunneling or cutting into the street. David A. Wells,
Manager of the Bureau of Design and Administration, advised the
Board that he had been contacted regarding this request and was
aware of what they would like to do and said any approval of this
request by the Board would be subject to inspection and final
approval by the City. Mr. Farrand said it was doubtful that any
approval would be given to street cuts. Mr. Farrand made a motion
that the Board approve the request for connection of the storm
sewer in Block Six for River Glen Office Park, subject to complete
coordination and approval of the project by the Department of Public
Works. Mr. Brunner .seconded the motion and it carried.
ADVERTISING FOR INSURANCE COVERAGE APPROVED
Peter H. Mullen, City Controller, requested that the Board, in
compliance with Ordinance_No. 5957-76, advertise the availablity
of insurance specifiations for the City of South Benda Detailed
specifications are available in the City Auditor's Office. Upon
motion made by Mr. Mullen, seconded by Mr. Farrand and carried, the
request was approved and the Clerk was directed to advertise the
availability of insurance specifications.
LETTER FROM `ALLEY CABLEVISION FILED
The following letter.was received and read:
"Board of Public Works
Gentlemen:
October 25, 1976
Your letter of October 20 was received regarding complaints
of radiation that you had received.
We are very sensitive to leaky signal problems and/or
radiation and we are unaware of any problems that.are not
getting our fullest cooperation and attention.
In fact, we are aware of only one problem within the entire
460 miles of system. This has been in the River Park
section -- one of the earliest built areas. It is a
continuing problem since we are finding many of the cable
