M <br />REGULAR MEETING NOVEMBER ,1, 1976 <br />OPENING OF BIDS - STREET DEPAEMENT TRUCES <br />This was the date set for opening,bids for two single axle trucks <br />for the Street Department. The Clerk tendered proofs of <br />publication of notice in the South Bend Tribune and in the Tri- <br />County News which were found to be sufficient. The following <br />bids were opened and publicly read, non -collusion affidavits <br />being in order: <br />Jordan Ford <br />Bid was signed by Craig Kapson, non- <br />Mishawaka,.Indiana <br />collusion affidavit was in order and <br />a 10°10 bid bond was submitted. <br />Total Bid for two units - $23,062.44 <br />Gates Chevrolet <br />South Bend., Indiana <br />Bid was signed by A. G. Irwin, non - <br />collusion affidavit was in order and <br />a 10% bid bond was submitted. <br />Bid - Two. units @ $11,533.38. <br />Total Bid - $23,066.76 <br />Alternate, two speed rear axle, add per unit $310.00 <br />International Harvester <br />Bid was signed by P. J. Irwin, non- <br />Sout _.Ben In Tana <br />collusion affidavit was in order and <br />a certified check in the amount of <br />$2,477.00 was submitted. <br />Bid - Two units @ 12,381.80 - <br />Total Bid - $24,763.30 <br />Shamrock Ford <br />Bid was'signed by B. S. Tinkham, <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />non -collusion affidavit was in order <br />and a 10% bid bond was submitted. <br />Bid - Two LN700 @ 11,933.62 - <br />Total Bid - $23,867.24 <br />Option, Two F700 @ 11,518.58 <br />- Total Bid - $23,037.16 <br />Upon motion made by Mr. Farrand, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried <br />the bids were referred to the <br />Bureau of Streets for review and <br />recommendation. <br />ADDITION A14D DELETION TO POLICE VEHICLE FLEET <br />Chief Michael Borkowski advised the Board that his department has <br />acquired a 1969 Dodge to be added to their fleet vehicle list as <br />Unit #733. They are asking for permission to dispose of Unit 743, a 1969 <br />Plymouth. Chief Terre was present and advised the Board that the <br />Fire Department has expressed an interest in having Unit 734. Upon <br />motion made by Mr. Farrand, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the <br />Board approved the addition to the vehicle list of Unit #733 and <br />authorized the transfer of Unit #734 from the Police Department to <br />the Fire Department. <br />CONTRACT WITH MOTOROLA EXTENDED - FTRE DEPARTMENT AMBULANCES <br />The Board received a request from Chief Oscar Van Wiele that the <br />Board approve an extension of the existing contract with Motorola, <br />entered into in January, 1975, to include telemetry equipment for <br />the two new ambulances. Cost of the maintenance agreement for the <br />two ambulances would be $54.50 per month and would increase the <br />cost of the agreement to $75.25 per month. Mr. Farrand made a <br />motion that the extension of the maintenance agreement be approved. <br />Mr. Brunner seconded the motion and it carried. <br />BID ADVERTISING APPROVED - FIRE DEPARTMENT VEHICLES <br />Chief Oscar Van Miele requested permission from the Board to <br />prepare specifications and advertise for bids for four to six <br />vehicles for the Fire Department. Chief Van Wiele indicated that <br />these would probably be cars and said the Department is in dire need <br />of vehicles. He indicated that he had discussed the matter with <br />Mr. Mullen and had been advised to make the request. Mr. Mullen <br />noted that the appropriation would probably come out of 1977 <br />revenue sharing funds. Upon motion made by Mr. Farrand, seconded <br />
