432 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />OCTOBER llz 1982 <br />ADOPTION OF RESOLUTION NO. 24, 1982 - DISPOSE OF OBSOLETE VEHICLE <br />RESOLUTION NO. 24, 1982 <br />WHEREAS, it has been determined by the Board of Public Works <br />that the following vehicle is obsolete and deteriorated to the <br />point where repair costs would exceed its value: <br />Police Department -,Mechanical No. 658 <br />1931 Chrysler Lebaron <br />Serial No. 2C3BM46FOBR152616 <br />WHEREAS, Chapter-186, Acts of 1967, of the Indiana. General <br />Assembly, permits the sale of personal property no longer <br />needed or obsolete. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Public Works <br />of the City of South Bend that the above listed vehicle is <br />obsolete and not needed by the City of South Bend. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Bureau of Vehicle Maintenance <br />be authorized to scrap said vehicle and that it be removed <br />from the City Vehicle Inventory. <br />Dated: October 11, 1982 <br />ATTEST: <br />s/ Barbara J. Kernan <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Hill, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski and <br />carried, the above resolution was adopted. <br />ACCEPT BID FOR PURCHASE OF CITY -OWNED PROPERTY (629 EAST BROADWAY) <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that, on August 2, 1982, the Board had <br />received the bid of Willie L. Cherry, 637 East Broadway, for the <br />purchase of a city -owned lot located at 629 East Broadway. The <br />amount of Mr. Cherry's bid was $175.00, and the city's offering <br />price had been established at $240.00 Because the sole bid <br />received from Mr. Cherry was not in the amount of the city's <br />offering price, the Clerk had been instructed to notify all <br />adjacent property owners of the city's intention to sell the <br />property in accordance with state statutes. The two adjacent <br />property owners, Mr. Sylvester Harris and the Administration of <br />Veterans Affairs, had been notified and no offers to purchase the <br />lot had been received. Mr. Leszczynski advised that the city may <br />now sell the property to the highest bidder. Upon a motion made <br />by Mr. Kernan, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the offer of Mr. <br />Cherry in the amount of $175.00 for purchase of the above property <br />was accepted, and the matter referred to the Legal Department for <br />preparation of the necessary Purchase Agreements. <br />REQUEST TO CONDUCT HOLIDAY PARADE REFERRED <br />A letter was submitted from Nelson Abrahams, President of the <br />Downtown South Bend Council, requesting approval of the 27th <br />Annual Holiday Parade to be held in downtown South Bend on <br />Saturday morning, November 20, 1982, utilizing Jefferson Street, <br />the service court between Michigan and St. Joseph Streets, and <br />a portion of Washington Street. Upon a notion made by Mr. <br />Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the request was <br />referred to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the Police <br />Traffic Division for review and recommendation. <br />
