426
REGULAR MEETING
OCTOBER 4, 1982
APPROVE CONTRACT - DUBAIL STREET BRIDGE RAIL IMPROVEMENTS
PROJECT (RIETH-RILEY CONSTRUCTION)
Mr. Leszczynski advised that, in accordance with the bids received
by the Board on September 20, 1982, and awarded by the Board on
September 27, 1982, the Board approval of a contract with Rieth-
Riley Construction Company in the amount of its low bid of
$14,469.20 for the Dubail Street Bridge Rail Improvements Project
was necessary. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded
by Mr. Hill and carried, the above contract was approved, and the
required Performance Bond and Labor and Materials Payment Bond
were filed.
APPROVE AGREEMENT FOR DESIGN OF EDISON ROAD
IMPROVEMENTS (COLE ASSOCIATES)
An Agreement between the City and Cole Associates for the design
of the Edison Road Improvements Project was submitted for Board
approval. Mr. Leszczynski advised that the total amount of the
design work, which included widening and storm sewer construction
along Edison Road from a point approximately 300 feet east of
Crestwood Street to a point approximately 335 feet west of the
centerline of Hickory Road, was $20,800.00. Upon a motion made
by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the above
Agreement was approved.
APPROVE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT TERMINATION AGREEMENT
(TOWER FEDERAL SAVINGS & LOAN)
Ms. Betsy Harriman from the Community Development staff requested
Board approval of a Termination Agreement with Tower Federal
Savings & Loan for the operation of the interest rate subsidy
program which had been approved by the Board in December, 1980.
She explained that the program had moved too slowly because the
FHA interest rate was too high and the city was not able to
subsidize the rate to a point where it was appealing. She stated
that Tower was in agreement that the contract and program should
be terminated. It was noted that only 14 loans had been subsidized
since December, 1980, in conjunction with the above project.
Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and
carried, the above Termination Agreement was approved.
APPROVE LEASE AGREEMENT FOR ALLEN'S ALLEY (EDMARDE'S, INC.)
Mr. Leszczynski stated that a Lease Agreement had been prepared
by the Legal Department and executed by Edmarde's Inc., d/b/a
Senor Kelly's, for a lease of a portion of Allen's Alley extending
from Woodward Court east to Michigan Street, which bid of Edmarde's
had been accepted by the Board on September 13, 1982. Mrs.
Pfotenhauer added that the annual lease rental would be $1,550.00
and the initial lease period would be for a term of approximately
21 months with two renewal options of three and five years. Upon
a motion made by Mr. Kernan, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the -
above Lease Agreement was approved subject to concurrence by the
Common Council.
APPROVE AGREEMENT WITH ILLINOIS TRUCK AND EQUIPMENT COMPANY
(FIRE SNORKEL RECONDITIONING)
Mr. Leszczynski advised that the Board had awarded the low bid
of Illinois Truck & Equipment Company on September 13, 1982, in
the amount of $189,158.00 for the reconditioning ofa 1961 FWD
85' Snorkel Fire Apparatus belonging to the city. He explained
that, in connection with that bid award, letters had been mailed
to Fire Chief Brassell concerning the actual reconditioning, and
the purpose of the Agreement was merely to clarify and incorporate
into the Agreement the various points covered in.those letters
dated August 25, 1982 and September 2, 1982, from Frank J. Kriz,
Corporate Sales Coordinator for Illinois Truck. Upon a motion
made by Mr. Hill, seconded by Mr. Kernan and carried, the above
Agreement was approved.
1
