375 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />AUGUST 9, 1982 <br />APPROVE BLOCK PARTY - 700 BLOCK OF WOODSIDE <br />Mr. Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager of the Bureau of Traffic and <br />Lighting, recommended approval of the block party request of <br />L. Slavinskas, 716 Woodside, South Bend, for Saturday, August <br />14, 1982, from noon to midnight, provided that an.un.obstructed <br />12-foot lane be maintained at either curb or down the center of <br />the street for emergency purposes. Upon a motion made by Mr. <br />Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the recommendation <br />was approved. <br />APPROVE REQUEST FOR STREET PROCESSION - ST. STANISLAUS B & M PARISH <br />Mr. Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager of the Bureau of Traffic and <br />Lighting, recommended approval of the request of St. Stanislaus <br />B & M Parish for a street procession to be held on Thursday, <br />August 26, 1982, starting at 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at the <br />corner of Linden and Brookfield and proceeding north on Brookfield <br />to Rupel Street, west on Rupel to Johnson and south on Johnson <br />to the church parking lot at 415 North Johnson. Mr. Wadzinski <br />�- recommended that Linden Street remain open; however, barricades <br />(29 would be provided to close other streets along the route. Upon <br />a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, <br />the recommendation was approved with the stipulation that Linden <br />Q Street remain open, and subject to the appropriate Certificate <br />of Insurance being filed with the Board in advance of the event. <br />APPROVE USE OF PUBLIC SIDEWALK FOR SOUTH BEND SHRINE CLUB <br />The Bureau of Traffic and Lighting recommended favorably the request <br />of the South Bend Shrine Club for use of the public sidewalk border- <br />ing its property on Marion Street for Saturday, August 14, 1982, <br />from 4:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. for its annual Corn and Sausage Roast, <br />and the placement of barricades 24 feet from the curb out into <br />Marion Street to protect pedestrian overflow onto the street. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and <br />carried, the recommendation was approved. <br />APPROVE ON -STREET PARKING FOR SIMON BROTHERS FOOD SHOW <br />The Bureau of Traffic and Lighting recommended approval of the <br />request of Simon Brothers to allow temporary on -street parking <br />on Bendix Drive in conjunction with its upcoming Annual Food <br />Show to be held on Saturday, October 2, and Sunday, October 3, <br />1982. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. <br />Hill and carried, the recommendation was approved. <br />APPROVE LABOR DAY PARADE - DISCOVERY HALL <br />The Bureau of Traffic and Lighting recommended approval of the <br />Labor Day Parade to be sponsored by Discovery Hall on Monday, <br />September 6, 1982, starting at 10:00 a.m. at Tippecanoe Place <br />and proceeding to Century Center along Taylor Street to Jefferson, <br />with final details of parade to be coordinated with the Police <br />Traffic Division and the Bureau of Traffic and Ligting. Upon a <br />motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, <br />the recommendation was approved. <br />APPROVE STREET CLOSURES FOR PARK AVENUE <br />NEIGHBORHOOD TOUR OF HOMES <br />In response to a request from the Park Avenue Neighborhood Associa- <br />tion Historic Homes Tour Committee, a favorable recommendation was <br />submitted by the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting for the closing of <br />the following streets on Sunday, September 12, 1982, between the <br />hours of 11:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., provided all streets have a <br />12-foot unobstructed lane maintained at either curb or down the <br />center of the street for emergency purposes: <br />
