316 <br />REGULAR MEETING JUNE 7, 1982 <br />OFFER TO SELL PROPERTY TO CITY ADJACENT TO RIVER <br />PARK FIRE.STATION REFERRED <br />An offer to sell property adjacent to the city fire station in <br />River Park in the amount of $200.00 was received from Charles <br />Roberts, 518 East Milton Street. The property was located <br />west of the Hollis Funeral Home and east of the alley. Upon <br />a motion made by Mr. Kernan, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, <br />the offer to sell the property to the city for use by the Fire <br />Department was referred to Fire Chief Timothy J. Brassell and <br />the Legal Department for review and recommendation. <br />APPROVE TEMPORARY°CLOSING OF PARK LANE FOR MAD'ISON SCHOOL ACTIVITY <br />A request was received from Madison School and Murphy Motor <br />Freight for the temporary closing of Park Lane from 1:30 p.m. <br />to 3:00 p.m. on this date, June 7, 1982, in order to conduct a <br />presentation to the school children from inside a semi -trailer/ <br />tractor which would be parked on the street. The Bureau of <br />Traffic and Lighting and Police Traffic Division strongly recommended° <br />the closing in the interests of the safety of the school children. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Kernan, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, <br />the closing was approved. <br />REQUEST TO PURCHASE CITY -OWNED PROPERTY (621 COLUMBIA) <br />A request to purchase the city -owned lot located at 621 Columbia <br />was received from Nigel Hawman, Upon a motion made by Mr. Kernan, <br />seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the request was referred to <br />the various city agencies for a determination as to whether or <br />not the property need to retained for any reason. %�531 S. Carroll St. <br />APPROVE BLOCK PARTY REQUESTS <br />The Bureau of Traffic and Lighting recommended approval of the <br />following block party requests subject to the maintenance of a <br />12=foot clear and unobstructed lane at either curb or down the <br />center of the street: <br />700 block of 27th Street - Friday, June.18', 1982, <br />from 5:00 p.m. to midnight (requested by Mrs. <br />Albert Liepold, 721 South 27th Street) <br />200 block of North Wellington - Saturday, June 19, 1982, <br />from 9:00 a.m, to 4:00 (requested by Keith Ivory), <br />205 North Illinois as a benefit for a family in the area) <br />The Bureau of Traffic and Lighting recommended the posting of a <br />"street closed" sign at the corner of Washington and Wellington <br />since the 200 block was mid -block area. Upon a motion made by <br />Mr. Kernan, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the above block <br />party requests were approved. <br />APPROVE LICENSE APPLICATIONS <br />The following license applications were submitted for Board <br />approval: <br />Secondhand Dealer's License <br />Sample Thrift Shop (Margaret Widmar) <br />413 Sample Street <br />It was noted that favorable recommendations for the issuance of <br />the license had been received from the Police Department, <br />Building Department, Fire Department and Traffic and Lighting <br />Bureau. Upon a motion made by Mr. Kernan, seconded by Mr. Hill <br />and carried, the license application was approved and referred <br />to the Deputy Controller's Office for issuance: <br />
