292 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />MAY 17, 1982 <br />APPROVE STATE HIGHWAY COMMISSION - CONTROLLED TURNING MOVEMENTS <br />(WESTERN AVENUE AND SUMMIT) <br />Mr. Leszczynski explained that the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting <br />and the Indiana Department of Highways recommended the installa- <br />tion of a "right turn on red" for the south approach to the <br />intersection of Western Avenue and Summit Street; and the establish- <br />ment of a "no turn on red" on the north, east and west approaches <br />to the same intersection. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, <br />seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the request was approved. <br />PETITION FOR INSTALLATION OF STOP SIGN REFERRED (MARINE & RANDOLPH <br />A petition containing the signatures of 7 residents in the 1800 <br />block of Marine Street requesting a study be done in an effort <br />to determine whether or not a stop sign was warranted at the <br />corner of Marine and Randolph Streets was submitted. Upon a <br />motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, <br />the matter was referred to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting for <br />review and recommendation. <br />APPROVE REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS - PURCHASE OF VEHICLES <br />FOR NEIGHBORHOOD CODE ENFORCEMENT <br />A request was received from Ms. Katherine Barnard, Director of the <br />Neighborhood Code Enforcement Office, for permission to advertise <br />for bids for the purchase of five new vehicles to replace existing <br />vehicles in accordance with specifications submitted. Upon a <br />motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, <br />the request was approved. <br />APPROVE SALE OF POPPIES ON PUBLIC SIDEWALKS - <br />AMERICAN LEGION AUXILIARY 303 <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and <br />carried, a request to sell veteran -made poppies on the public <br />sidewalks by the American Legion Auxiliary No. 303 on May 21 <br />and 22, 1982, was approved. <br />APPROVE REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS AND SIGN TITLE SHEET <br />CENTRAL BUSINESS DISTRICT SITE IMPROVEMENTS(PHASE IT,)' <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and <br />carried, permission was given to advertise for the receipt of <br />sealed bids for the Central Business District Site Improvements, <br />Phase II, Project, with a date of June 7, 1982, established. <br />The title sheet was also approved and signed. <br />APPROVE MAURICE MATTHYS LITTLE LEAGUE PARADE <br />Mr. Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager of the Bureau of Traffic and <br />Lighting, submitted a favorable recommendation for the Maurice <br />Matthys Little League parade to be held on May 22, 1982. It was <br />noted that the requested time for the start of the parade had been <br />9:00 a.m., however, because of a conflict with the Chet Waggoner <br />Little League Parade also to be held on that same day (previously <br />approved by the Board on May 10, 1982), a revised time of 9:30 a.m. <br />had been agreed upon. The route to be used is as follows: <br />Starting from the Little League ball park east on Meadow Lane <br />to Edison; north on Edison and Villageway to Washington; east <br />on Washington to Gladstone; north on Gladstone to Linden; west <br />on Linden to Lombardy Drive; south on Lombardy to Ford; west on <br />Ford to Sample; east on Sample to Evergreen; and south on Evergreen <br />to the ball park. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded <br />by Mr. Hill and carried, the recommendation was approved, subject <br />to the filing of the appropriate certificate of insurance. <br />1 <br />L <br />
