292 REGULAR MEETING MAY 17, 1982 APPROVE STATE HIGHWAY COMMISSION - CONTROLLED TURNING MOVEMENTS (WESTERN AVENUE AND SUMMIT) Mr. Leszczynski explained that the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the Indiana Department of Highways recommended the installa- tion of a "right turn on red" for the south approach to the intersection of Western Avenue and Summit Street; and the establish- ment of a "no turn on red" on the north, east and west approaches to the same intersection. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the request was approved. PETITION FOR INSTALLATION OF STOP SIGN REFERRED (MARINE & RANDOLPH A petition containing the signatures of 7 residents in the 1800 block of Marine Street requesting a study be done in an effort to determine whether or not a stop sign was warranted at the corner of Marine and Randolph Streets was submitted. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the matter was referred to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting for review and recommendation. APPROVE REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS - PURCHASE OF VEHICLES FOR NEIGHBORHOOD CODE ENFORCEMENT A request was received from Ms. Katherine Barnard, Director of the Neighborhood Code Enforcement Office, for permission to advertise for bids for the purchase of five new vehicles to replace existing vehicles in accordance with specifications submitted. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the request was approved. APPROVE SALE OF POPPIES ON PUBLIC SIDEWALKS - AMERICAN LEGION AUXILIARY 303 Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, a request to sell veteran -made poppies on the public sidewalks by the American Legion Auxiliary No. 303 on May 21 and 22, 1982, was approved. APPROVE REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS AND SIGN TITLE SHEET CENTRAL BUSINESS DISTRICT SITE IMPROVEMENTS(PHASE IT,)' Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, permission was given to advertise for the receipt of sealed bids for the Central Business District Site Improvements, Phase II, Project, with a date of June 7, 1982, established. The title sheet was also approved and signed. APPROVE MAURICE MATTHYS LITTLE LEAGUE PARADE Mr. Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager of the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, submitted a favorable recommendation for the Maurice Matthys Little League parade to be held on May 22, 1982. It was noted that the requested time for the start of the parade had been 9:00 a.m., however, because of a conflict with the Chet Waggoner Little League Parade also to be held on that same day (previously approved by the Board on May 10, 1982), a revised time of 9:30 a.m. had been agreed upon. The route to be used is as follows: Starting from the Little League ball park east on Meadow Lane to Edison; north on Edison and Villageway to Washington; east on Washington to Gladstone; north on Gladstone to Linden; west on Linden to Lombardy Drive; south on Lombardy to Ford; west on Ford to Sample; east on Sample to Evergreen; and south on Evergreen to the ball park. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the recommendation was approved, subject to the filing of the appropriate certificate of insurance. 1 L
