267 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />APRIL 19, 1982 <br />ADOPTION OF RESOLUTION NO. 12, 1982 - DISPOSE OF OBSOLETE VEHICLE <br />RESOLUTION NO. 12, 1982 <br />WHEREAS, it has been determined by the Board of Public Works <br />that the following vehicle is obsolete and deteriorated to <br />the point where repair costs would exceed its value: <br />Police Department - 1977 Dodge, <br />Serial No. XS22K7R294087 <br />WHEREAS, Chapter 186, Acts of 1967, of the Indiana General <br />Assembly, permits the sale of personal property no longer <br />needed or obsolete. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Public Works <br />of the City of South Bend that the above listed vehicle is <br />obsolete and not needed by the City of South Bend. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Bureau of Vehicle Maintenance <br />be authorized to scrap said vehicle and that it be removed <br />from the City Vehicle Inventory. <br />Adopted: April 19, 1982 <br />ATTEST: <br />BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />s/ John E. Leszczynski <br />s/ Joseph E. Kernan <br />s/ Barbara J. Byers, Clerk <br />Mr. Leszczynski stated that Vehicle No. 732 had been involved <br />in an automobile accident and had been totaled. As a result, <br />Century Insurance Company of Aurora, Illinois, had settled the <br />city's claim and all subsequent charges in the amount of . <br />$2,800.00. He advised that, upon declaring the vehicle obsolete, <br />the title would be turned over to Century Insurance for salvage <br />rights. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. <br />Kernan and carried, the above resolution was adopted. <br />REQUESTS TO PURCHASE CITY -OWNED PROPERTIES <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the following requests had been <br />received inquiring into the possible purchase of city -owned <br />properties: <br />J. Findley May City -owned property at 222 N. O'Brien <br />218 North O'Brien Street <br />Helen C.V. Mester City -owned property at 517 S. Rush. <br />521 East South Street <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Kernan and <br />carried, the above requests were referred to the various city <br />agencies for a determination as to.whether or not the lots need. <br />be retained for any reason. <br />APPROVE SALE OF POPPIES ON SIDEWALKS <br />AMERICAN LEGION AUXILIARY #50 <br />A request was received from Bertha Horvath, Poppy Chairman, <br />American Legion Auxiliary Unit #50, for permission to hold its <br />annual sale of veteran -made poppies on the public sidewalks at <br />various locations throughout the city on May 14 and 15, 1982.. <br />Upon a notion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Kernan <br />and carried, the request was approved for sale of the poppies <br />on the sidewalks only. <br />
