Byers, Clerk <br />Mr. Kernan explained that the Site Selection Committee would be <br />meeting in South Bend soon, at which time representatives of the <br />city would make its presentation encouraging the I.A.C.T. to <br />hold its 1984 convention in South Bend. Upon a motion made by <br />Mr. Kernan, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the above resolu- <br />tion was adopted. <br />DESIGNATE DIRECTOR OF NEIGHBORHOOD CODE ENFORCEMENT <br />TO ORDER CLEANING OF LOTS <br />Mrs. Katherine Barnard, Director of the Neighborhood Code Enforce- <br />ment Office, explained that the Board's procedure in the past <br />regarding the environmental clean-up of lots has been to approve <br />a list of properties determined to need cleaning following proper <br />notice to property owners to clean same. She stated that, many <br />times, the cleaning of the lots is held up for a week because <br />approval of the Board is needed before the clean-up crews can <br />begin work. She asked that the Board authorize her to proceed <br />with the cleaning of these lots in order to expedite the clean-up. <br />She stated that she would submit to the Board for its information <br />lists of those properties which have been cleaned the week before. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Kernan, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, <br />the Director of the Neighborhood Code Enforcement was designated <br />to order cleaning of these lots after giving proper notice to <br />the property owners. <br />APPROVE REQUESTS TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS - STREET DEPARTMENT TRUCK <br />CHASSIS AND STREET MATERIALS, AND SALE OF ABANDONED VEHICLES <br />Mr. Sean Watt, Director of the Division of Transportation, requested <br />permission to advertise for the purchase of two.Tandem Axle Truck <br />Chassis and street materials for the current maintenance season. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by.Mr. Hill and <br />carried, the request was approved, with sealed bids to be <br />received and opened by the Board on April 5, 1982. <br />Mrs. Katherine Barnard, Director of the Neighborhood Code Enforce- <br />ment Office, also requested permission to advertise for the sale <br />of approximately 14 abandoned vehicles, 2 of which were valued <br />at under $100, and all of which had been towed and stored for <br />the required period of time at the Hurwich Iron Impoundment Lot, <br />1610 Circle Avenue. It was noted that identification checks <br />had been run on the vehicles for auto theft, and the owners and <br />lienholders notified. Upon a motion made by Mr. Hill, seconded <br />by Mr. Kernan and carried, the request was approved, with sealed <br />bids to be received and opened by the Board on March 29, 1982. <br />C1 <br />
