233 <br />REGULAR MEETING MARCH 15, 1982 <br />APPROVE RIGHT OF ENTRY AGREEMENT AND CONSENT - <br />STEEL WAREHOUSE CO. AND ASHLAND OIL COMPANY <br />Mr. Leszczynski stated that approval by the Board of Works on <br />a Consent Agreement between Steel Warehouse Co., by First <br />Source Bank as Trustee, and Ashland Oil Company, was needed <br />granting permission to Ashland Oil to enter onto property owned <br />by the Trust for the purpose of excavating and removing con- <br />taminated soil. As stipulated in the agreement, the City of <br />South Bend would indemnify and hold harmless the Trust from any <br />claims arising out of the excavation and removal, and would also <br />provide legal defense if suit was brought against the Trust as <br />a result of the work performed. Upon a motion made by Mr. <br />Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the Consent was <br />approved. <br />APPROVE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT CONTRACTS <br />Mr. Leszczynski stated that approval was requested on the follow- <br />ing Community Development contracts: <br />Redevelopment and Economic Development - for property <br />(29 acquisition, relocation and clearance of the <br />Monroe -Sample Development Area. <br />Budget: $225,000.00 <br />Neighborhood Code Enforcement - For demolition and <br />clearance of 48 unsafe structures within Community <br />Development strategy areas. <br />Budget: $50,000.00 <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and <br />carried, the above contracts were approved. <br />ADOPTION OF RESOLUTION NO. 8, 1982 - EXTEND INVITATION AND WELCOME <br />TO INDIANA ASSOCIATION OF CITIES -AND TOWNS (1984 CONVENTION) <br />RESOLUTION NO. 8. 1982 <br />WHEREAS, the Indiana Association of Cities and Towns, of <br />which the City of South Bend is a member, is a state-wide <br />organization established for the purpose of assisting <br />municipalities in Indiana in the operation of their <br />respective governments; and <br />WHEREAS, the Indiana Association of Cities and Towns <br />conducts conventions each year throughout the State <br />for the benefit of all its members, and the City of <br />South Bend was pleased to have served as its host in <br />1979; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of South Bend would again like to <br />welcome the Indiana Association of Cities and Towns to <br />South Bend in 1984 for the 84th Annual IACT Convention. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Public <br />Works of the City of South Bend as follows: <br />SECTION I. That a warm welcome be given to the <br />Site Selection Committee of the Indiana <br />Association of Cities and Towns in the <br />hope that South Bend will again be <br />honored to serve as host for the <br />annual convention in 1984. <br />SECTION II. That the City of South Bend is happy <br />to offer its visitors excellent con- <br />vention facilities, lodging, food and <br />a relaxing atmosphere for the con- <br />vention events. <br />
