233 REGULAR MEETING MARCH 15, 1982 APPROVE RIGHT OF ENTRY AGREEMENT AND CONSENT - STEEL WAREHOUSE CO. AND ASHLAND OIL COMPANY Mr. Leszczynski stated that approval by the Board of Works on a Consent Agreement between Steel Warehouse Co., by First Source Bank as Trustee, and Ashland Oil Company, was needed granting permission to Ashland Oil to enter onto property owned by the Trust for the purpose of excavating and removing con- taminated soil. As stipulated in the agreement, the City of South Bend would indemnify and hold harmless the Trust from any claims arising out of the excavation and removal, and would also provide legal defense if suit was brought against the Trust as a result of the work performed. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the Consent was approved. APPROVE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT CONTRACTS Mr. Leszczynski stated that approval was requested on the follow- ing Community Development contracts: Redevelopment and Economic Development - for property (29 acquisition, relocation and clearance of the Monroe -Sample Development Area. Budget: $225,000.00 Neighborhood Code Enforcement - For demolition and clearance of 48 unsafe structures within Community Development strategy areas. Budget: $50,000.00 Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the above contracts were approved. ADOPTION OF RESOLUTION NO. 8, 1982 - EXTEND INVITATION AND WELCOME TO INDIANA ASSOCIATION OF CITIES -AND TOWNS (1984 CONVENTION) RESOLUTION NO. 8. 1982 WHEREAS, the Indiana Association of Cities and Towns, of which the City of South Bend is a member, is a state-wide organization established for the purpose of assisting municipalities in Indiana in the operation of their respective governments; and WHEREAS, the Indiana Association of Cities and Towns conducts conventions each year throughout the State for the benefit of all its members, and the City of South Bend was pleased to have served as its host in 1979; and WHEREAS, the City of South Bend would again like to welcome the Indiana Association of Cities and Towns to South Bend in 1984 for the 84th Annual IACT Convention. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Public Works of the City of South Bend as follows: SECTION I. That a warm welcome be given to the Site Selection Committee of the Indiana Association of Cities and Towns in the hope that South Bend will again be honored to serve as host for the annual convention in 1984. SECTION II. That the City of South Bend is happy to offer its visitors excellent con- vention facilities, lodging, food and a relaxing atmosphere for the con- vention events.
