Circle Ave. <br />South Bend, Ind. 46627 <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Kernan and <br />carried, the above bids were referred to the Neighborhood Code <br />Enforcement Office and the City Controller for review and <br />recommendation. <br />AWARD BID - OFFICE COPIER FOR POLICE DEPARTMENT <br />In a letter to the Board, Police Chief Dan Thompson recommended <br />the Board award the bid of International Business Machines for <br />the 12-month lease of an IBM Series III Copier at a monthly <br />lease price of $693.00, as being the best bid received on <br />November 30, 1981 meeting specifications. Upon a motion made <br />by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the bid <br />was awarded as recommended. <br />AWARD BID - AUTOMOBILES FOR FIRE DEPARTMENT <br />In a letter to the Board, Fire Chief Timothy J. Brassell recom- <br />mended the Board award the low bid of Mary Borr Chrysler -Plymouth <br />in the amount of $18,023.10 for two 1982 Plymouth Grand Furys for <br />the Fire Department. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, <br />seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the bid was awarded as recom- <br />mended, subject to approval by the Common Council of a transfer <br />of funds within the Fire Department to effectuate said purchase. <br />DESIGNATION OF DISPOSING AGENT FOR CITY -OWNED PROPERTY <br />Pursuant to IC 36-1-11-3(a)(2), Mayor Parent, in a letter to the <br />Board, officially designated the Board of Public Works as disposing <br />agent for the city under the provisions of the above statute <br />concerning the sale, exchange, transfer or lease of property. <br />Mr. Masters explained that the new statutes, effective since <br />September 1, 1981, provide that all sales, transfers, exchanges <br />or leases of city -owned property be approved by the Mayor and <br />that the.Mayor may appoint or designate a person or body to <br />conduct negotiations in this regard. Upon a motion made by Mr. <br />Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the Mayor's <br />correspondence was filed. <br />STATUS OF PRENCO OIL FACILITY <br />Mr. Leszczynski reported that the Prenco Soluble Oil Facility on <br />Riverside Drive had been dismantled and all equipment would be <br />scrapped except for the storage tanks. He advised that the site <br />would be cleared of all equipment by the end of today. <br />STATUS OF CITY'S APPEAL FOR EXCESS TAX LEVY <br />Mr. Kernan explained that the city has met with the State Board of <br />Tax Commissioners concerning its appeal for excess tax levy. He <br />stated that he had not been officially notified of the decision <br />of the Tax Board; however, Mr. Kernan had had discussions with a <br />staff person from the Commissioners' office who advised that <br />Dominick DaCosta, 754 N. Cottage Grove, had raised certain questions <br />
