94 <br />REGULAR MEETING OCTOBER 12, 1981 <br />APPROVAL OF CHANGE ORDER NO. 2 - RIETH-RILEY CONSTRUCTION <br />(MICHIGAN STREET STORM SEWER PROJECT) <br />Mr. Leszczynski stated that Rieth-Riley Construction Company had <br />submitted Change Order No. 2 to its contract for construction of <br />the Michigan Street Storm Sewer Project from Washington to Colfax <br />Street, in the amount of an addition of $4,236.55. He stated <br />that the increase in the contract was necessitated because of <br />old I & M ducts and old trolley -car track concrete base which <br />needed to be removed. In addition, several feet of damaged <br />curbing on the west sideofMichigan Street had to be replaced. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Kernan <br />and carried, the above change order was approved. <br />FILING OF PARK BOARD RESOLUTION RE: SALE OF BROWNFIELD PARK <br />Mr. Leszczynski stated that the Park Board had, at its meeting <br />held on September 29, 1981, adopted a resolution declaring a <br />portion of Brownfield Park located at the northwest corner of <br />Angela and Riverside to be excess property and had consented to <br />the transfer of the use of said property back to the Board of <br />Public Works as it had been prior to April 23, 1924. It was <br />noted that Lock Joint Tube Company, the company interested in <br />purchasing the property from the city, had not yet responded to <br />the city's counter-offer which was made on October 5, 1981, <br />when the bid of Lock Joint Tube Company for purchase of the <br />property had been rejected. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, <br />seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the resolution of the Park <br />Board was filed. <br />FILING OF BARRETT LAW PETITION FOR CONSTRUCTION OF <br />SANITARY SEVERS ON WABASH STREET <br />A petition was submitted by Albert and Eleanor Tengelitsch, <br />1132 E. Bowman, owners of Lots 183-191 in Homeland Addition, <br />requesting the construction of a sanitary sewer on Wabash Street <br />from Ewing to Calvert. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, <br />seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the petition was referred to <br />the Bureau of Administration and Design for preparation of pre- <br />liminary documents. <br />FILING OF ASSESSMENT ROLL NO. 2989 (ALLEY PAVING <br />PROJECT, HARTER HEIGHTS 2ND ADDITION) <br />Mr. Leszczynski submitted the final assessment roll for the <br />Barrett Law Project involving the concrete construction of an <br />alley in Harter Heights 2nd Addition, bounded by Angela, Pokagon, <br />St. Joseph and Foster Streets. He noted that the final cost of <br />the project was $7,964.82 of which the city would pay $832.64. <br />He stated that the final assessment roll showed a reduction of <br />$1,605.07 from the preliminary assessment roll filed on June 29, <br />1981. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. <br />Hill and carried, the assessment roll was filed and set for <br />public hearing on October 26, 1981. <br />APPROVE TITLE SHEET (POLICE SUBSTATION PARKING LOT PROJECT) <br />Mr. Leszczynski stated that approval was needed on the title <br />sheet for the parking lot construction at the police substations <br />located at 420 North Francis Street and at the rear of Fire <br />Station No. 4 located at 220 North Olive Street. Upon a motion <br />made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the <br />title sheet was signed and approved. <br />
