59 <br />REGULAR MEETING SEPTEMBER 14, 1981 <br />In accordance with guidelines adopted for such use of revenue <br />sharing funds, information about this public hearing was forwarded <br />to the following senior citizen groups with the request that the <br />notice be posted: Foster Grandparents, Hansel Neighborhood Center, <br />REAL Services, Retired Senior Volunteer Program, Senior Citizens <br />Group of LaSalle Park, and Harvest House Center. There was no <br />one present to speak against the proposed expenditure. Upon a <br />motion made by Mr. Kernan, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski and carried, <br />the public hearing was closed and the Clerk was instructed to <br />forward the minutes of this public hearing to the Controller's <br />Office and the City Clerk. <br />NOTIFICATION OF VACATING PREMISES AT 420 NORTH FRANCES (DELOS HOUSE) <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that, in accordance with a letter dated <br />August 27, 1981, the Delos House program would be vacating the <br />premises it currently leased from the city at 420 North Frances as <br />of October 1, 1981. He stated that, on September 4th, Kathy <br />Munich from ADAPT had informed the Board office that the Delos <br />House operation would be closed as of that date and all furnish- <br />ings and equipment would be removed from the premises. Upon a <br />motion made by Mr. Hill, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski and carried, <br />the notice of vacating the premises was filed and the matter <br />referred to the Legal Department for review of the lease require- <br />ments and subsequent inspection of the premises. <br />APPROVE REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS (STREET DEPARTMENT EQUIPMENT) <br />In a letter to the Board, Sean Watt, Director of the Division of <br />Transportation, requested permission to advertise to receive bids <br />for the following equipment: <br />Remounting of underbody blade assemblies, remounting <br />of front hitches, mounting of crankshaft hydraulic <br />systems, and the mounting of five dump boxes. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and <br />carried, the request was approved. <br />APPROVAL OF LEASE FOR POLICE SUB -STATION (1614-18 SOUTH MAIN) <br />Mr. Hill explained that Board approval was needed on a lease for <br />rental of a building located at 1614-1618 South Main Street <br />from Robert L. Miller, which facility would be used by the city <br />for a police sub -station under the Community Oriented Policing <br />Program. He advised that the monthly rental to be paid by the <br />city for the facility would be $125 per month for the remainder <br />of 1981, and starting in 1982, the monthly payments would be <br />$150 per month. He stated that the team of officers who have <br />been charged with the task of recommending suitable facilities <br />to accommodate the police sub -stations has recommended this <br />particular facility. Upon a motion made by Mr. Hill, seconded <br />by Mr. Kernan and carried, the lease agreement was approved. <br />DECLARATION OF EMERGENCY SITUATION IN SEWER <br />SYSTEM AT MUNICIPAL SERVICES FACILITY <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that a week ago, a deteriorated sewer was <br />brought to his attention in front of the Municipal Services <br />Facility on Sample Street near the Fire Department Building, said <br />sewer having deteriorated to such a point that it is totally <br />blocked. He stated that a crew visually inspected the sewer and <br />numerous piles of bricks were found all the way through the sewer. <br />He stated that the sewer is an old brick sewer system and the city <br />has experienced cave-ins in the street and other problems at that <br />particular location in the past; however, the problem is so severe <br />that a heavy rain storm could wash away a large portion of Sample <br />Street.
