15 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />JULY 20. 1981 <br />REQUEST TO PURCHASE CITY -OWNED PROPERTY (BOUNDED BY <br />BIRDSELL, ORANGE AND OLD COLFAX AVENUE) <br />A request from the Pilgrim Baptist Church inquiring into the possible <br />purchase of a triangular portion of city -owned right-of-way in <br />front of the church bounded by Birdsell, Orange and old Colfax <br />Avenue was received. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, <br />seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the request was referred to <br />the various city agencies for a determination as to whether or <br />not the city need retain the property for any reason. <br />REQUESTS FOR BLOCK PARTIES <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and <br />carried, the following requests for block,parties were referred <br />to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the Police Traffic <br />Division for review and recommendation: <br />August lst, 3:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. - Wall Street from <br />�- 1321 to end of 1400 block <br />August lst, 5:00 p.m. to midnight - 500 block of Woodside <br />from Fellows to Erskine <br />APPROVAL OF BLOCK PARTY REQUESTS <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Hill, seconded by Mr. Kernan and carried, <br />the following block party requests were approved as recommended <br />by the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and Police Traffic Division, <br />subject to the restrictions as listed: <br />July 25th, 7:00 p.m. to midnight - 1200 block of <br />Terrace Court, subject to maintaining a 12-foot, <br />unobstructed lane at either curb or down the <br />center of the street for emergency vehicle access. <br />July 26th, 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. - 1800 block of <br />Marine, subject to maintaining a 12-foot, unobstructed <br />lane at either curb or down the center of the street <br />for emergency vehicle access. <br />August 1st, noon to 9:00 p.m. - alleys surrounding <br />William Penn Clubhouse at 1024 West Indiana. <br />August 8th, noon to 9:00 p.m. - Hollywood Place from <br />Edgewood to Eastbrook, subject to maintainina a <br />12-foot, unobstructed lane at either curb or down <br />the center of the street for emergency vehicle access. <br />August 16th, noon to 10:00 p.m. - Assumption Drive, <br />subject to maintaining a 12-foot, unobstructed <br />lane at either curb or down the center of the street <br />for access to church buildings from Olive Street (Locust) <br />July 24th, 4:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. - East Wayne, a portion <br />of East Wayne North and East Wayne South, between Eddy <br />and Sunnyside, subject to maintaining a 12-foot, <br />unobstructed lane at either curb or down the center <br />of the street for emergency vehicle access. <br />July 26th, 12:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. - Woodward Avenue <br />between Vassar and Golden, subject to maintaining <br />a 12-foot, unobstructed lane at either curb or <br />down the center of the street for emergency vehicle <br />access. <br />Mr. Kernan stated that discussions had taken place concerning the <br />possibility of charging a deposit for the use of the barricades <br />needed when streets are closed for block party requests.
