2 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />OPENING OF BIDS - SALE OF 208 CHAPIN STREET <br />JULY 13, 1981 <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that, in accordance with the wishes of the <br />Common Council, the sale of 208 Chapin Street had been re -advertised <br />for sale with bids to be received on July 13th. He advised that one <br />bid had been received from Mr. Michael A. Jurek, 202 South Chapin <br />Street, in the amount of $1,661.00, which was one dollar higher than <br />the offering price previously established by the Board. Upon a <br />motion made by Mr. Hill, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski and carried, <br />the bid of Michael A. Jurek in amount of $1,661.00 was approved. <br />PUBLIC HEARING - IMPROVEMENT RESOLUTION NO. 3509, 1981 (GRADING <br />AND PAVING OF ALLEY, HARTER HEIGHTS 2ND ADDITION) <br />This was the date set for holding a public hearing on the grading <br />and concrete paving of the east -west alley between Angela Boulevard <br />and Pokagon Street running from St. Joseph Street to Foster Street, <br />authorized under Improvement Resolution No. 3509, 1981, adopted by <br />the Board on June 29, 1981. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication <br />of notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri-County News which <br />were found to be sufficient. It was noted that the property owners <br />affected by the Improvement Resolution had been sent notice of the <br />hearing and the preliminary assessment for the repair work. Mr. <br />Leszczynski noted that the total cost of the project was estimated <br />at `$9,569.89. Mr. Bruce Bondurant, an affected resident and <br />attorney representing the property owners, expressed concern about <br />an increase in the actual cost of the project. Mr. Leszczynski <br />advised him that the preliminary assessment of costs which had been <br />mailed to the property.owners would not increase and could possibly <br />decrease somewhat after actual costs for work done was known. He <br />anticipated that the project could be started within 30 to 40 days <br />and would be completed prior to fall. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Kernan and <br />carried, the public hearing was closed and the Engineering Department <br />was instructed to prepare the necessary plans and specifications in <br />order to advertise for bids on the project. <br />APPROVE REQUEST TO RE -ADVERTISE TO RECEIVE BIDS ON VEHICLES <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that Board approval was needed in order to <br />re -advertise to receive bids for the vehicles requested by the <br />Street Department and the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting. Mr. <br />Kernan explained that the reason the trucks were being re -bid was <br />to include provision for the.three-year and five-year lease -purchase <br />of the equipment in addition to the cash bid, in accordance with <br />discussions previously had with the Council concerning this method <br />of purchase. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. <br />Kernan and carried, the Board authorized the re -advertising for bids <br />to provide for a lease/purchase of the equipment. <br />APPROVE INTENDED USE OF REVENUE SHARING FUNDS <br />This was the date for holding a public hearing on the proposed use <br />of revenue sharing funds in the amount of $100,000.00 during the <br />calendar year 1981. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of <br />notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri-County News which <br />were found to be sufficient. Mr. Leszczynski noted that this was <br />the public hearing on the proposed use of revenue sharing funds <br />as follows: <br />$100,000.00 Purchase of vehicles, repair of existing <br />structures and purchase of other equipment <br />In accordance with guidelines adopted for such use of revenue sharing <br />funds, information about this public hearing was forwarded to the <br />following senior citizens groups with the request that the notice <br />be posted: Foster Grandparents, Hansel.
