374 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />SEPTEMBER 19 1983 <br />Mr. Hill and carried, the request was referred to the neces- <br />sary City departments and bureaus for a determination as to <br />whether or not the City need retain the lot for any reason. <br />APPROVE REQUEST OF CITIZENS ACTION COALITION TO <br />COLLECT SIGNATURES AND DONATIONS ON RIVER BEND <br />PLAZA - SEPTEMBER 19 THROUGH 23. 1983 <br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Paul Falduto, on behalf of the <br />Steering Committee of the South Bend Chapter of the Citizens <br />Action Coalition, requested that their membership be allowed <br />to collect signatures and donations on the River Bend.Plaza. <br />from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Monday, September 19, 1983 <br />through Friday, September 23, 1983. Mr. Falduto_stated <br />that the CAC has a -Charitable Solicitations Permit. Upon a <br />motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and <br />carried, the above request was approved subject to CAC <br />providing to the City an Indemnification Agreement for.this <br />activity to be held on River Bend Plaza. <br />REQUEST OF WOMEN'S INTERNATIONAL LEAGUE FOR PEACE <br />AND FREEDOM TO CONDUCT RALLY RE: PERSHING II & <br />CRUISE MISSILES ON RIVER BEND PLAZA REFERRED <br />In a letter to the Board, Ms. Rolanda L. Hughes, 622 Fellows <br />Street, South Bend, Indiana stated that the Women's.International <br />League for Peace and Freedom respectfully request permission to <br />hold a rally on the stage on River Bend Plaza in front of <br />Robertson's on Monday, October 24, 1983. The stage would be <br />needed from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. inclusive of set-up and <br />clean-up time. Approximately 50-150 people are expected to. <br />attend. The letter stated that the purpose of the rally, which <br />will be held in conjunction with similar events across the <br />U.S. and in Europe, is to educate the public regarding the <br />Pershing II and Cruise missiles and to protest their proposed <br />deployment in Europe. The rally will consist chiefly of <br />singing and brief speeches by organization representatives <br />and public officials. The Chairperson of the local chapter <br />of the Women's International League for Peach and Freedom <br />is Elizabeth Klauz, 1215 Blaine Avenue, South Bend, Indiana. <br />Upon a motion made by.Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill <br />and carried, the above request was referred to the Bureau of <br />Traffic and Lighting and Ms. Mikki Dobski, City Events <br />Coordinator for review and recommendation. <br />APPROVE LICENSE APPLICATIONS - SECONDHAND DEALER <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that license applications have been <br />received from the following: <br />Ms. Doris M. Schrop <br />FIRESIDE ANTIQUES <br />1211 Mishawaka Avenue <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />Deborah E. Marchesi <br />MEMORY LANE ANTIQUES <br />2810 Mishawaka Avenue <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />Mr. Leszczynski further advised that favorable recommendations <br />have been received from the Police Department, Fire Department, <br />Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the Department of Code <br />Enforcement concerning these applications.
