J J <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />SEPTEMBER 19,- 1983 <br />seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the above Petition was <br />referred to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting for its <br />review and recommendation. <br />PETITION FOR STREET LIGHT INSTALLATION REFERRED <br />Mr. Leszczynski presented to the Board.a Petition for <br />Street Light Installation signed by eight (8) property <br />owners indicating their request that a.street light be <br />installed in the area of 1640 North O'Brien Street. The <br />Petition states that extreme darkness due to lack of <br />sufficient street lighting plus density of trees has <br />made this area an ideal place for burglarizing porches <br />and cars parked in .the street. The Petition further <br />stated that most of the property owners who have signed <br />the Petition have been victimized at least once, and some <br />several times. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, <br />seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the above Petition.was <br />referred to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting for review <br />and recommendation. <br />APPROVE INTENDED USE HEARING OF REVENUE SHARING FUNDS - <br />HAZ-MAT EQUIPMENT,. ISLAND PARK REPAIR, PARKING GARAGES, <br />AND 1983 POLICE AND FIRE PENSIONS - $1,795,000.00 <br />Chief Deputy Controller Sherrie L. Petz requested Board <br />approval for an intended use hearing on the following <br />proposed expenditure of revenue sharing funds: <br />Haz-Mat Equipment $ 30,000.00 <br />Island Park Repair 65,000.00 <br />Parking Garages 100,000_.00 <br />1983 Police & Fire Pensions 1,600,000.00 <br />TOTAL $1,795,000.00 <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill <br />and carried, the request was approved and a date of October <br />3, 1983 set for the public hearing on the intended use of <br />the revenue sharing funds. <br />REQUEST OF ST. JOSEPH MEDICAL CENTER.TO CONDUCT 10K <br />SPORTSMED ROADRACE - OCTOBER 2, 1983 REFERRED <br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Mark J. Neff, Director, Sports <br />Medicine/Health Awareness, St. Joseph's Medical Center, 811 <br />East Madison Street, P.O. Box 1935, South Bend, Indiana, <br />in conjunction with St. Joseph Bank, the WNDU Stations and <br />Kangaroos Shoes respectfully requested permission for the <br />running of the third annual Sportsmed 10K roadrace. The <br />race is scheduled for Sunday, October 2, 1983. The 10K <br />is slated to begin at 2:00 p.m, with the Fun Run to <br />begin immediately following at 2:05 p.m. The route <br />starts at Jeffexson.Boulavard to Notre Dame Avenue, left <br />on Wayne, right at Francis to Northside to finish line. <br />The route to be utilized is the same route used last year <br />for this event. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, <br />seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the above request was <br />referred to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the <br />Police Department Traffic Division for.review and recom- <br />mendation. <br />REQUEST TO PURCHASE CITY -OWNED PROPERTY REFERRED <br />(1629 SOUTH WILLIA4 STREET) <br />In a letter to the Board, Lucio Ortiz, 3719 West Ford <br />Street, South Bend, Indiana, indicated that he recently <br />purchased Lot #'s 8, 9 and 10 which are located at 1633 <br />South William Street at Dubail and he is interested in <br />purchasing the city -owned lot #11 at 1629 South William <br />Street.
