MILTON <br />This was the date.set for receiving and opening of sealed bids <br />for the sale of the City -owned property at 505 E. Milton. <br />The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of Notice in the <br />South Bend Tribune and the Tri-County News which were found <br />to be sufficient. The following bid was ,received: <br />Mr. James R. Seago $20.00 <br />(currently buying house at 509 E. Milton) <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the above property was appraised <br />at $325.00. Upon a motion made by Mr. Kernan, seconded by <br />Mr. Hill and carried, the.Clerk was instructed to make a <br />counter-offer of $100.00 to Mr. Sego for the property, It <br />was noted that the City has incurred the costs for the <br />appraisal and for the legal advertising of the Notice of <br />Sale of this property. <br />AWARD BID - BUREAU OF HOUSING PAINT PROGRAMS <br />In a letter to the Board, Ms. Janet Holston, Director, Bureau <br />of Housing, recommended the Board award the bid of C.E. Lee <br />Company, Inc., 215 South Main Street, South Bend, Indiana, in. <br />the amount of $151.06 which was the total price bid for one <br />unit each of a total of eighteen (18) items including:paint <br />and related materials. In her letter, Ms. Holston indicated that <br />the price spread between bidders was extremely close. An <br />examination of the most frequently used products in the Paint <br />Program showed that again prices were comparable between bids. <br />C.E. Lee however, bid a locally produced paint, Fuller O'Brien.. <br />The letter further stated that in light of the above, and <br />because the City of South Bend is required by federal regula <br />tion'to take affirmative steps directed at increasing the <br />utilization of low income residents and project area <br />businesses in federally funded programs (Section 3), the <br />Bureau recommends that the bid award be made to C.E. Lee <br />Company. Upon a motion made by Mr. Kernan, seconded by Mr. <br />Hill and carried, the above recommendation was accepted and <br />the bid awarded.to the C.E. Lee Company, Inc. <br />APPROVE CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT - GUARD RAIL CONSTRUCTION <br />PROJECT - CITY CEMETERY (HOOSIER FENCE COMPANY, INC.) <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that in accordance with the bid awarded <br />on August 15, 1983, to Hoosier Fence Company, Inc., P.O. Box <br />68106, Indianapolis, Indiana 46268, in the amount of <br />$12,263.56 for the above referred to project, a contract in <br />said amount was being submitted for Board approval. Upon a <br />motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and <br />carried, the contract was approved and the appropriate <br />insurance, Performance Bond and Labor and Materials Payment <br />Bond were filed. <br />
