352 <br />REGULAR MEETING AUGUST 29, 1983 <br />APPROVE BLOCK PARTY REQUESTS <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that Mr_. Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager, <br />Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, has reviewed the following <br />block party requests and recommends approval subject to the <br />maintenance of a clear and unobstructed lane for emergency <br />purposes. It was noted that the petitioner is responsible <br />for the closing and opening of the streets and alleys with <br />barricades to be provided by the Bureau of Traffic and <br />Lighting. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded <br />by Mr. Kernan and carried, the following block parties were <br />approved: <br />1. Sunnymede Street between Eddy and Sunnyside <br />September 4, 1983, Rain Date: September 5, 1983 <br />12:00 noon to 9:00 p.m. <br />Petitioner: Margie Baumer, 1212 Sunnymede Street <br />2. 600 Block Studebaker <br />September 5, 1983 <br />1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. <br />Petitioner,: Thomas Lue, 643 LaPorte. <br />DENY REQUEST OF GRASS ROOTS ORGANIZATION TO CLOSE <br />PORTION OF WASHINGTON STREET (SEPTEMBER 4, 1933) <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that Mr. Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager, <br />Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, has reviewed the request of <br />the Grass Roots Organization submitted to the Board on August <br />22, 1983 and recommends denial of the request. Mr. Wadzinski <br />stated that he'has reviewed the request to close streets in the <br />vicinity of the LaSalle Park in connection with the affair to <br />be held at LaSalle Park on September 4, 1983. He stated that <br />based upon the lack of accessability-to multi -family housing <br />on Falcon Street, the singular access to the major parking <br />area for the park off Washington and the safety aspects of a <br />"play street" it is the recommendation of the Bureau that <br />the request to close Falcon and Washington Streets be denied. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Kernan, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski <br />and carried, the above recommendation was approved and the <br />request denied. <br />DENY REQUEST OF NEAR NORTHWEST NEIGHBORHOOD TO CONDUCT RUN IN <br />CONJUNCTION WITH NEIGHBORHOOD FESTIVAL SEPTE14BER 10. 1983 <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that Mr. Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager, <br />Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, has reviewed the request of <br />the Near Northwest Neighborhood submitted to the Board on <br />August 1, 1983 and recommends denial of the request. Mr. <br />Wadzinski recommends denial based on the size of the route <br />submitted and the utilization of state highways for the run. <br />Mr.-Wadzinski suggested that the group utilize Riverside <br />Drive from Pinhook Park or the perimeters of Muessel Grove <br />Park (off street) or the perimeter of Leeper Park (off <br />street/no street crossings) or the Keller Park perimeter <br />(off street). Upon a motion made by Mr. Kernan, seconded <br />by Mr. Leszczynski and carried, the above recommendation <br />was approved and the request denied. <br />APPROVE HANDICAPPED PARKING PERMITS <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill <br />and carried, the following three (3) handicapped parking <br />permits were approved and referred to the Deputy Controller's <br />office for issuance: <br />Lloyd A.F.
