351 <br />REGULAR MEETING AUGUST 1983. <br />This location of the unit would not interfere with any current <br />traffic pattern and would have its own accessible paved parking <br />area for customers and employees. It would be a quick service <br />retail bakery sales unit that would not build up a backlog of <br />traffic. No curb cuts would be necessary or required. The <br />project would readily add another desirable and proven retail <br />operation for our convenience and economy in South Bend <br />Dainty Maid Bakery would be the sponsor of this project. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded'by Mr. Kernan <br />and carried, the above request was referred to the Bureau of <br />Traffic and Lighting and the .Building Department for review <br />and recommendation. <br />REQUEST OF NUCLEAR WEAPONS FREEZE CAMPAIGN.OF-ST. JOSEPH. <br />COUNTY TO CONDUCT WALKATHON - OCTOBER 1, 1983 REFERRED <br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. John Monczunski, on behalf of <br />the Nuclear.Weapons Freeze Campaign of St. Joseph County, <br />1302 North Lafayette Boulevard, South Bend, Indiana, requested <br />permission to conduct a 10 kilometer (6.2.mile) walk on <br />Saturday, October 1,.1983 beginning at 10:00 a.m. The <br />proposed route to be utilized is as follows: <br />Begin at Howard Park (Jefferson and Hill); west <br />on Jefferson to Wayne; west on Wayne .to Lafayette; <br />south on Lafayette to Riverside Drive; west and <br />north on Riverside to Angela; Angela to Notre <br />Dame Avenue; south on Notre Dame to Peashway; <br />west on Peashway to Leeper; south on Leeper to <br />Howard; east on Howard to Niles; south on Niles <br />to Colfax; east.on Colfax to Notre Dame Avenue; <br />south on Notre Dame to Jefferson; west on <br />Jefferson to finish line at Howard Park. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill <br />and carried, the above request was referred to the Bureau <br />of Traffic and Lighting and the Police Department Traffic <br />Division for review and recommendation. <br />REQUEST TO CONDUCT BLOCK PARTY - ASHLAND AVENUE- <br />(SEPTEMBER 11, 1983) REFERRED <br />In a letter to the Board, Ms. Peg Luecke, 754 Leland Avenue, <br />South Bend, Indiana, on behalf of the residents of the <br />immediate neighborhood, requested to close off Ashland <br />Avenue between Rex Street and Leland Avenue on Sunday, <br />September 11, 1983 from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. for a block <br />party- Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by <br />Mr. Hill and carried, the above request was referred to the <br />Bureau of Traffic and Lighting for review and recommendation. <br />APPROVE REQUEST TO CONDUCT BLOCK PARTY <br />SOUTH BENDIX (SEPTEMBER 5, 1983) <br />In a letter to the Board, Ms. Pat Blount, 618 South Bendix. <br />Drive, South Bend, Indiana, requested permission to conduct <br />a block party on Monday, September 5, 1983 from 11:00 a.m. <br />to 9:00 p.m. She requested that Bendix Drive be closed from <br />Ford Street to Huron Street. Because of the date of the <br />block party, upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded <br />by Mr. Hill and carried, the above request was approved <br />subject to the Clerk receiving a favorable recommendation <br />from the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting for this request. <br />
