350 <br />REGULAR MEETING AUGUST 29, 1983 <br />REJECT BID FOR FATAL DEFECT - BUREAU OF HOUSING <br />NEIGHBORHOOD PAINT -UP PROGRAMS (MAUT? PAINT COMPANY) <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the bid of the Mautz Paint Company <br />submitted.on August 22, 1983 for the above referred to project <br />was not. signed. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded <br />by Mr. Hill and carried, the bid submitted was rejected because <br />of this fatal defect. <br />AWARD BID - MANHOLE RESTORATION PROJECT <br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. David A. Wells, P.E., Manager, <br />Bureau of Design and Administration, recommended the Board <br />award the low bid of Pressure Concrete Construction Company, <br />315 South Court Street, Florence, AL 35630, in the amount of <br />$31,134.00.. Mr. Leszczynski advised that bids for this project <br />were opened at the Board meeting held on August 22, 1983. Upon <br />a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Kernan and <br />carried, the above bid was awarded. <br />APPROVE CONTRACTOR AND HOMEOWNER AGREEMENTS - BUREAU <br />OF HOUSING NEIGHBORHOOD PAINT -UP PROGRAM <br />Ms. Janet S. Holston, Director, Bureau of Housing-, presented to <br />the Board for approval three (3) Neighborhood Paint -Up Program <br />Agreements for the Rehabilitation of Real Property between the <br />Board of Public Works and Homeowner(s) and Neighborhood Paint - <br />Up Program Agreements for the Repair of Real Property between <br />the Board of Public Works and Contractor. Engle Construction <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and <br />carried, the above Agreements were approved and executed. <br />APPROVE ENTRANCE CANOPY - JOHNELL'S LOFT RESTAURANT <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that City Awning of South Bend, 1835 South <br />Franklin Street, South Bend, Indiana, is requesting permission to <br />erect an entrance canopy at the Johnell's Loft Restaurant, 112 <br />West Colfax, South Bend, Indiana. The request has been reviewed <br />by the Building Department and the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting <br />and favorable recommendations have been forwarded to the Board. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and <br />carried, the above request was approved subject to the filing of <br />a $1,000,000.00 Certificate of Insurance naming the City of <br />South Bend as an additional insured. Additionally required is <br />a permit from the Building Department for the erection of this canopy. <br />REQUEST TO ERECT TEMPORARY MOBILE BAKERY OUTLET REFERRED <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that in a letter to the Board, Mr. Robert <br />R. Allen has requested approval of a six months permit for a <br />mobile retail bakery outlet to be used as a retail test unit. <br />The unit is 40' x 14' in dimension and it is aesthetically <br />designed for the proposed location which is in front of 4611-4615 <br />South Miami Street, a considerable distance from both.Arby's <br />and the laundromat located on Miami Street. The unit is self- <br />contained and would have water connection readily available to it. <br />1 <br />
