<br />APPROVE REQUEST TO USE FIRE STATIONS FOR "VOTER
<br />REGISTRATION DAY" SEPTEMBER 13, 1-9-8-3-
<br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Paul Falduto, on behalf of
<br />Casey Pajakowski, Democratic Party Chairman and Jack Ellis,
<br />Republican Party Chairman, requested that the following
<br />Fire Stations be used for the purpose of voter registration
<br />on "Voter Registration Day", Tuesday, September 13, 1983,
<br />from noon until 8:00 p.m.
<br />1. Fire Station #3 1805_McKinely
<br />2. Fire Station #5 2221 Prairie Ave.
<br />3. Fire Station #6 4302 W. Western Ave.
<br />4 Fire Station #7 1616 Portage Ave.
<br />5. Fire Station #9 2520 Mishawaka Ave.
<br />6. Fire Station #10 308 W. Ireland
<br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill
<br />and carried, the above request was approved,.
<br />REQUEST OF GRASS ROOTS ORGANIZATION TO CLOSE PORTION
<br />OF WASHINGTON STREET (SEPTEMBER 4, '1983')' REFERRED
<br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Alfred Fultz, Chairman, Grass
<br />Roots Organization, c/o 1.039 Talbot Street, South Bend,
<br />Indiana, stated that the Grass Roots Organization will be
<br />conducting.its first annual Senior Citizens Day, Voter
<br />Registration and Peoples Concert on Sunday, September 4,
<br />1983 from 10:00 a.m, to 8:00 p.m. to be held at LaSalle Park.
<br />Mr. Fultz requested permission to block off Washington Street
<br />from Dundee to Falcon, with all south traffic exiting to
<br />Falcon.and Falcon to Linden. He indicated that this request
<br />is being made in order to facilitate crowd control and for
<br />the safety of the neighborhood. Upon a motion made by Mr.
<br />Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Kernan and carried, the above
<br />request was referred to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting
<br />and Police Department Traffic Division for review and
<br />recommendation.
<br />REQUEST TO CONDUCT BLOCK PARTY - SUNNYMMEDE
<br />(SEPTEMBER 4, 1983) REFERRED
<br />In a letter to the Board, Ms. Margie Baumer, 1212 Sunnymede
<br />Street, South Bend, Indiana, requested approval to have
<br />Sunnymede between Eddy and Sunnyside Street closed off for
<br />a block party to be held on Sunday, September 4, 1983 from
<br />12:00 noon to 9:00 p.m. with a rain date of .Monday, September
<br />5, 1983. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by
<br />Mr. Hill and carried, the above request was referred to the
<br />Bureau of Traffic and Lighting for review and recommendation.
<br />APPROVE BLOCK PARTY REOUESTS
<br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that Mr. Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager,
<br />Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, has reviewed the following
<br />block party requests and recommends approval subject to the
<br />maintenance of a clear and unobstructed lane for emergency
<br />purposes. It was noted that the petitioner is responsible
<br />for the closing and opening of the streets and alleys with
<br />barricades to be provided by the Bureau of Traffic and
<br />Lighting. It was additionally noted that these requests
<br />were presented to the Board on August 15, 1983, for
<br />consideration. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski,
<br />seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the following block
<br />party requests were approved:
