2.8'7 REGULAR MEETING JULY 11, 1983 OPENING OF BIDS - SIGNALIZATION'OF .ORANGE STREET & COLLEGE STREET AND COLFAX AVENUE AND WALNUT STREET INTERSECTIONS This was the date set for receiving and opening of sealed bids for the above referred to project. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri-County News which were found to be sufficient. The,following bids were opened and publicly read: TRANS TECH ELECTRIC, INC. Bid was signed by Robert J. P.O. Box 3915 Urbanski, President, and Sally South Bend, Indiana 46619 J. Urbanski, Secretary, Non - Collusion Affidavit was in order and a_5% Bid Bond was submitted. TOTAL AMOUNT OF BID: $47,449.20 DELTA STAR ELECTRIC, INC. Bid was signed by Edward Berebitsky, 1125 South Walnut Street President and Chuck Keil, Secretary, South Bend, Indiana 46619 Non -Collusion Affidavit was in order. and a 5% Bid Bond was submitted. TOTAL A14OUNT OF BID: $49,755.00 JAMES H. DREW CORPORATION Bid was signed by William V. Drew, P.O. Box 88504 President and Harry W. Steele, Asst. 2829 North Meridian St. Treasurer and Vice -President, Non Indianapolis, Indiana -Collusion Affidavit was in order and a 5% Bid Bond was submitted. TOTAL AMOUNT OF BID: $63,774.97 Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Kernan and carried, the above bids were referred to the Engineering Department for review and recommendation. AWARD BID - MONROE PARK PHASE IV - CURB AND LANDSCAPING IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT In a letter to the Board, Mr. Neil A. Shanahan, Manager, Bureau of Public Construction, recommended the Board award the bid of Geyer Construction and Development Company, 67475 Kenilworth Road, Lakeville, Indiana in the amount of $22,4.60.50. Mr. Leszczynski advised that due to a computation error, the bid amount is $900.00 less than the bid total of $23,360.50 originally submitted on this project by Geyer Construction. Mr. Leszczynski additionally advised that bids for this project were opened at the Board meeting held on June 27, 1983. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the above bid was awarded. AWARD PROPOSAL - FIRE DEPARTMENT PHYSICAL FITNESS PROGRAM Fire Chief Timothy J. Brassell advised the Board that they have before them a brief synopsis of the proposals received on June 20, 1983 for the above referred to service, and it is the recommendation of the South Bend Fire Department that the contract be awarded to the Health and Lifestyle Center of Memorial Hospital. Chief Brassell indicated that due to the various types of tests to be conducted on the firefighters and the number of firefighters requiring each test being yet undetermined, a bottom line figure would not be calculated. However, it is the opinion of the Department that the Health and Lifestyle Center of Memorial Hospital could best serve the needs of the Department. Upon a motion made by Mr. Kernan, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the above recommenda- tion of Chief Brassell was approved.
