2.8'7 <br />REGULAR MEETING JULY 11, 1983 <br />OPENING OF BIDS - SIGNALIZATION'OF .ORANGE STREET & COLLEGE <br />STREET AND COLFAX AVENUE AND WALNUT STREET INTERSECTIONS <br />This was the date set for receiving and opening of sealed <br />bids for the above referred to project. The Clerk tendered <br />proofs of publication of notice in the South Bend Tribune <br />and the Tri-County News which were found to be sufficient. <br />The,following bids were opened and publicly read: <br />TRANS TECH ELECTRIC, INC. Bid was signed by Robert J. <br />P.O. Box 3915 Urbanski, President, and Sally <br />South Bend, Indiana 46619 J. Urbanski, Secretary, Non - <br />Collusion Affidavit was in order <br />and a_5% Bid Bond was submitted. <br />TOTAL AMOUNT OF BID: $47,449.20 <br />DELTA STAR ELECTRIC, INC. Bid was signed by Edward Berebitsky, <br />1125 South Walnut Street President and Chuck Keil, Secretary, <br />South Bend, Indiana 46619 Non -Collusion Affidavit was in order. <br />and a 5% Bid Bond was submitted. <br />TOTAL A14OUNT OF BID: $49,755.00 <br />JAMES H. DREW CORPORATION Bid was signed by William V. Drew, <br />P.O. Box 88504 President and Harry W. Steele, Asst. <br />2829 North Meridian St. Treasurer and Vice -President, Non <br />Indianapolis, Indiana -Collusion Affidavit was in order <br />and a 5% Bid Bond was submitted. <br />TOTAL AMOUNT OF BID: $63,774.97 <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Kernan <br />and carried, the above bids were referred to the Engineering <br />Department for review and recommendation. <br />AWARD BID - MONROE PARK PHASE IV - CURB AND LANDSCAPING <br />IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT <br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Neil A. Shanahan, Manager, Bureau <br />of Public Construction, recommended the Board award the bid of <br />Geyer Construction and Development Company, 67475 Kenilworth <br />Road, Lakeville, Indiana in the amount of $22,4.60.50. Mr. <br />Leszczynski advised that due to a computation error, the bid <br />amount is $900.00 less than the bid total of $23,360.50 <br />originally submitted on this project by Geyer Construction. <br />Mr. Leszczynski additionally advised that bids for this <br />project were opened at the Board meeting held on June 27, <br />1983. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. <br />Hill and carried, the above bid was awarded. <br />AWARD PROPOSAL - FIRE DEPARTMENT PHYSICAL FITNESS PROGRAM <br />Fire Chief Timothy J. Brassell advised the Board that they <br />have before them a brief synopsis of the proposals received <br />on June 20, 1983 for the above referred to service, and it <br />is the recommendation of the South Bend Fire Department that <br />the contract be awarded to the Health and Lifestyle Center <br />of Memorial Hospital. Chief Brassell indicated that due to <br />the various types of tests to be conducted on the firefighters <br />and the number of firefighters requiring each test being yet <br />undetermined, a bottom line figure would not be calculated. <br />However, it is the opinion of the Department that the Health <br />and Lifestyle Center of Memorial Hospital could best serve <br />the needs of the Department. Upon a motion made by Mr. <br />Kernan, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the above recommenda- <br />tion of Chief Brassell was approved. <br />
