ROM <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />JULY 11, 1983 <br />The regular meeting of the <br />9:34 a.m. on Monday, July <br />with Mr. Leszczynski, Mr. <br />present. Also present was <br />Pfotenhauer. <br />Board of Public Works was convened at <br />11, 1983, by President John E. Leszczynski, <br />Richard L. Hill and Mr. Joseph E. Kernan <br />Assistant City Attorney Carolyn V. <br />AGENDA ITEMS STRICKEN <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Kernan and <br />carried, the following items were stricken from the agenda: <br />Opening of Bids: Construction of parking lot, sidewalks and <br />lighting at LaSalle-Fillmore Neighborhood -Center; Opening of <br />Bids: Relocation of two portable classrooms from Greene School <br />to lots in the LaSalle Park Addition; the Award of Proposal for <br />Insurance coverage for Safetyville and the Construction Contract <br />with H. DeWulf MechanicalContractor for the Retention Basin and <br />Ditch System in the Rum Village Industrial Park. <br />MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING APPROVED <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Kernan, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, <br />the minutes of the June 27, 1983, regular meeting of the Board <br />were approved. <br />OPENING OF BIDS - SALE OF CITY -OWNED PROPERTIES - 1034 WEST <br />NAPIER, 606 CARROLL AND 1320 WEST JEFFERSON STREET <br />This was the date set for the receiving of bids for the sale of <br />City -owned properties at 1034 West Napier, 606 Carroll and 1320 <br />West Jefferson Street. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication <br />of notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri-County News which <br />were found to be sufficient. Mr. Leszczynski advised that the <br />following sealed bids were received: <br />1034 West Na ier <br />One bid received from Viola Vanison, 318 McPherson <br />in the amount of $50.00. <br />606 Carroll Street <br />Two bids receive . One from Marion Treat, 612 <br />Carroll Street in the amount of $220.00 and one <br />from Rozell H.. Murray, 604 South Carroll in the <br />amount of $220.00. <br />1320 West Jefferson <br />One bid from E—Tw—ar-d Washington, 210 South Chestnut <br />Street, in the amount of $210.00. <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the City -owned lot at 1034 West Napier <br />was appraised at $245.00. Upon a motion made by Mr. Kernan, <br />seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the Clerk was instructed to <br />make a counter-offer of $75.00 to Ms. Vanison for the property. <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the City -owned property at 606 <br />Carroll Street was appraised at $220.00 and it was noted that <br />both bids received were for the appraised price. Upon a motion <br />made by Mr. Kernan, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the Clerk <br />was instructed to contact both bidders and request that they <br />re -submit a sealed bid to be opened at the next regular meeting <br />of the Board. Mr. Kernan stated that at that time the property <br />will be awarded to the high bidder. <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the City -owned property at 1320 <br />West Jefferson Street was appraised at $210.00. Upon a motion <br />made by Mr. Kernan, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the bid <br />received from Mr. Washington in the amount of $210.00 was <br />accepted and the matter referred to the City Attorney's <br />office for the drafting of the appropriate Purchase Agreement. <br />
