ROM REGULAR MEETING JULY 11, 1983 The regular meeting of the 9:34 a.m. on Monday, July with Mr. Leszczynski, Mr. present. Also present was Pfotenhauer. Board of Public Works was convened at 11, 1983, by President John E. Leszczynski, Richard L. Hill and Mr. Joseph E. Kernan Assistant City Attorney Carolyn V. AGENDA ITEMS STRICKEN Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Kernan and carried, the following items were stricken from the agenda: Opening of Bids: Construction of parking lot, sidewalks and lighting at LaSalle-Fillmore Neighborhood -Center; Opening of Bids: Relocation of two portable classrooms from Greene School to lots in the LaSalle Park Addition; the Award of Proposal for Insurance coverage for Safetyville and the Construction Contract with H. DeWulf MechanicalContractor for the Retention Basin and Ditch System in the Rum Village Industrial Park. MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING APPROVED Upon a motion made by Mr. Kernan, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the minutes of the June 27, 1983, regular meeting of the Board were approved. OPENING OF BIDS - SALE OF CITY -OWNED PROPERTIES - 1034 WEST NAPIER, 606 CARROLL AND 1320 WEST JEFFERSON STREET This was the date set for the receiving of bids for the sale of City -owned properties at 1034 West Napier, 606 Carroll and 1320 West Jefferson Street. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri-County News which were found to be sufficient. Mr. Leszczynski advised that the following sealed bids were received: 1034 West Na ier One bid received from Viola Vanison, 318 McPherson in the amount of $50.00. 606 Carroll Street Two bids receive . One from Marion Treat, 612 Carroll Street in the amount of $220.00 and one from Rozell H.. Murray, 604 South Carroll in the amount of $220.00. 1320 West Jefferson One bid from E—Tw—ar-d Washington, 210 South Chestnut Street, in the amount of $210.00. Mr. Leszczynski advised that the City -owned lot at 1034 West Napier was appraised at $245.00. Upon a motion made by Mr. Kernan, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the Clerk was instructed to make a counter-offer of $75.00 to Ms. Vanison for the property. Mr. Leszczynski advised that the City -owned property at 606 Carroll Street was appraised at $220.00 and it was noted that both bids received were for the appraised price. Upon a motion made by Mr. Kernan, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the Clerk was instructed to contact both bidders and request that they re -submit a sealed bid to be opened at the next regular meeting of the Board. Mr. Kernan stated that at that time the property will be awarded to the high bidder. Mr. Leszczynski advised that the City -owned property at 1320 West Jefferson Street was appraised at $210.00. Upon a motion made by Mr. Kernan, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the bid received from Mr. Washington in the amount of $210.00 was accepted and the matter referred to the City Attorney's office for the drafting of the appropriate Purchase Agreement.
