271 REGULAR MEETING JUNE 20, 1983 JENNIFER KLINEDINST Fireworks Factory 67751 Oak Road North Liberty, Indiana Stand to be located at: Corner of Logan McKinley (3627 East McKinley) Dates: present to July 4, 1983 for the purpose of selling fireworks DAVE KLOCKOW Regency 3610 36th Street South Bend, Indiana Stand to be located at: Corner of Sample Street and Franklin Street Dates: The first thru the tenth of the months of July, August & September from 8-5 p.m. for the purpose of selling miscellaneous merchandise. Mr. Kernan further advised that favorable recommendations were received on all of the above referred to applicants from the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the Police Department. The Department of Code Enforcement submitted favorable recommendations on the stands to be located at 1107 L.W.W., the corner of Logan & McKinley and the corner of Sample & Franklin. The Department advised that the stand to be located at 325 S. Logan is in an "A" residential area. However, because of the prior use of this property for open air stands and because of its location between two establish- ments zoned "C" commercial, it was recommended by the Board Attorney that this request be approved. All applicants have provided a letter from the property owner granting permission to erect an open air stand on said property. Additionally, individuals applying for an open air stand license to sell fireworks have provided a copy of their Fireworks Stand Retail Sales Permit issued by the State Fire Marshall. Upon a motion made by Mr. Kernan, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the above license applications were approved and referred to the Deputy Controller's office for issuance. APPROVE REQUEST TO CONDUCT BLOCK PARTY - CEDAR STREET (JUNE 25, 1983) Mr. Kernan advised that a letter has been received from Mr. Butch LaSane, 1128 Cedar Street, South Bend, Indiana requesting permission to conduct a block party on Cedar Street from Sommers to 'Arthur on June 25, 1983 from 10:00 a.m, to 10:00 p.m. Due to the fact that this request was just recently received and the event is scheduled for June. 25, 1983, upon a motion made by Mr. Kernan, seconded by.Mr. Hill and carried, the request was approved subject to review and recommendation by the Bureau of Traffic.and Lighting and the Police Department Traffic Division. APPROVE REQUEST OF PHILLIPA STREET RESIDENTS CONCERNING TRAFFIC FLOW Mr. Kernan advised that Mr. Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager, Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, has reviewed the Petition received by the residents of Phillipa Street south of Ford, and in response to that petition recommends that the one- way street currently in effect be reverted to a two-way street for the duration of the Olive/Sample construction period. At the completion of the construction of the Olive/ Sample Overpass, the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting will then review this matter for the re -installation of a one-way street. Upon a motion made by Mr. Kernan, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the above recommendation in response to the Petition received was approved.
