271 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />JUNE 20, 1983 <br />JENNIFER KLINEDINST <br />Fireworks Factory <br />67751 Oak Road <br />North Liberty, Indiana <br />Stand to be located at: Corner of Logan <br />McKinley (3627 East McKinley) <br />Dates: present to July 4, 1983 for the purpose <br />of selling fireworks <br />DAVE KLOCKOW <br />Regency <br />3610 36th Street <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />Stand to be located at: Corner of Sample <br />Street and Franklin Street <br />Dates: The first thru the tenth of the months <br />of July, August & September from 8-5 p.m. <br />for the purpose of selling miscellaneous <br />merchandise. <br />Mr. Kernan further advised that favorable recommendations <br />were received on all of the above referred to applicants <br />from the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the Police <br />Department. The Department of Code Enforcement submitted <br />favorable recommendations on the stands to be located at <br />1107 L.W.W., the corner of Logan & McKinley and the corner <br />of Sample & Franklin. The Department advised that the stand <br />to be located at 325 S. Logan is in an "A" residential area. <br />However, because of the prior use of this property for open <br />air stands and because of its location between two establish- <br />ments zoned "C" commercial, it was recommended by the Board <br />Attorney that this request be approved. All applicants have <br />provided a letter from the property owner granting permission <br />to erect an open air stand on said property. Additionally, <br />individuals applying for an open air stand license to sell <br />fireworks have provided a copy of their Fireworks Stand <br />Retail Sales Permit issued by the State Fire Marshall. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Kernan, seconded by Mr. Hill and <br />carried, the above license applications were approved and <br />referred to the Deputy Controller's office for issuance. <br />APPROVE REQUEST TO CONDUCT BLOCK PARTY - <br />CEDAR STREET (JUNE 25, 1983) <br />Mr. Kernan advised that a letter has been received from Mr. <br />Butch LaSane, 1128 Cedar Street, South Bend, Indiana requesting <br />permission to conduct a block party on Cedar Street from <br />Sommers to 'Arthur on June 25, 1983 from 10:00 a.m, to 10:00 p.m. <br />Due to the fact that this request was just recently received <br />and the event is scheduled for June. 25, 1983, upon a motion <br />made by Mr. Kernan, seconded by.Mr. Hill and carried, the <br />request was approved subject to review and recommendation by <br />the Bureau of Traffic.and Lighting and the Police Department <br />Traffic Division. <br />APPROVE REQUEST OF PHILLIPA STREET RESIDENTS <br />CONCERNING TRAFFIC FLOW <br />Mr. Kernan advised that Mr. Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager, <br />Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, has reviewed the Petition <br />received by the residents of Phillipa Street south of Ford, <br />and in response to that petition recommends that the one- <br />way street currently in effect be reverted to a two-way <br />street for the duration of the Olive/Sample construction <br />period. At the completion of the construction of the Olive/ <br />Sample Overpass, the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting will then <br />review this matter for the re -installation of a one-way street. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Kernan, seconded by Mr. Hill and <br />carried, the above recommendation in response to the Petition <br />received was approved. <br />
