RR� <br />REGULAR MEETING JUNE 20, 1983 <br />Housing Services of South Bend, Inc. The agreement provides <br />for the expansion of neighborhood housing services into the <br />northeast neighborhood and outlines how this expansion will <br />be implemented.. She indicated that six to nine monthsof <br />developmental work will be necessary before the expanded <br />program is developed and operational. NHS has been operating <br />very successfully in the northwest area. The commitment on <br />the part of the City is to provide $100,000.00 a year for <br />fiscal years 1984, 1985 and 1986 to the revolving loan fund <br />for the northeast neighborhood area utilizing Community <br />Development block grant funds. If, for any reason, this <br />program is terminated, there will be no commitment on the <br />part of the City. Additionally, the City will have no <br />obligation to the program should it not be able to provide <br />Community Development block grant funds. Ms. Kolata stated <br />that Neighborhood Reinvestment Corporation will provide a <br />,staff member to assist in the development of the program. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Kernan, seconded by Mr. Hill and <br />carried, the above agreement was approved and executed. <br />APPROVE TITLE SHEETS - ERSKINE MANOR SECTIONS 2 & 3 <br />Mr. Kernan advised that the Title Sheets for the above <br />referred to projects were being presetned at this time for <br />execution. He stated that the work to be performed is <br />pavement, curbs and sewer work in the public right-of-way. <br />The work is being undertaken by the Sisters of the Holy Cross, <br />Inc., the owners of the real estate in the Erskine Manor <br />subdivision. Upon a motion made by Mr. Kernan, seconded by <br />Mr. Hill and carried, the above Title Sheets were approved <br />and signed. <br />REQUEST TO CONDUCT BLOCK PARTY - 1000 BLOCK WEST <br />OAK STREET (JULY 4, 1983) REFERRED <br />In a letter to the Board, Mrs. Linda Johnson, 1015 West Oak <br />Street, South Bend, Indiana, requested permission to have <br />one half of the 1000 block of West Oak Street, from 1028 <br />West Oak Street to 1015 West Oak Street, closed on.July 4, <br />1983, with a rain date of July 10, 1983, for the purpose <br />of having a block party. Upon a motion made by Mr. Kernan, <br />seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the above request was <br />referred to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the <br />Police Department Traffic Division for review and recom- <br />mendation. <br />REQUEST TO CONDUCT BLOCK PARTY MATTHEWS LANE <br />(JULY 2. 1983) REFERRED <br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Casey J. Major, 1409 Matthews <br />Lane, South Bend, Indiana requested permission to have <br />Matthews Lane from Abshire on the west end and Cambridge <br />on the east end blocked off for a block party to be held <br />on July 2, 1983 from 9 a.m, to midnight. Upon a motion <br />made by Mr. Kernan, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the <br />above request was referred to the Bureau of Traffic and <br />Lighting and the Police Department Traffic Division for <br />review and recommendation. <br />REQUEST TO CONDUCT BLOCK PARTY - ASSUMPTION DRIVE <br />(AUGUST 14, 1983) REFERRED <br />In a letter to .the Board Rev. F. Thomas Lallak, Pastor of <br />St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 3402 South Locust Road, <br />South Bend, Indiana requested permission to close a portion <br />of Assumption Drive on Sunday, August 14, 1983 from noon <br />until 10:00 p.m. He noted that this is the date of the <br />Annual Parish Festival. Upon a motion made by Mr. Kernan, <br />seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the above request was <br />referred to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the <br />Police Department Traffic Division for review and recommendation. <br />
